Oke.. I'm dutch(not my name) and I was reading the news this morning, I read the article about the shooting in Thousand Oaks.. first of all.. my heart goes out to the victims that got hurt and the people who lost a loved one..

But what baffles me every time is the fact that these shootings even happen. These things happen all around the world.. but not as much as in the US.. is it normal? I don't think so.. but why does it happen.. are the people just plain stupid in the US? nah.. I have been to your beautiful country, and my experience was a warm welkom and open minded people.. THEN WHY DO THE STUPID AND IGNORANT PEOPLE MAKE UP THE RULES?

And why don't you all do something about it?

Trumpy says it's too soon to talk about those things. His own words.

The politicians who could make a difference take a ton of money for their reelection campaigns from the gun lobbies. It's corrupt.

It’s because people care more for materialistic things (money, guns, etc.) more than they care for actual human beings.

Ever watch Idiocracy? Sadly, the dumbest foul tempered oompa loompa to escape the chocolate factory is not as endearing as pres. Comacho.

This isn’t a problem that can be legislated. Culture sits outside a lawbook. Ours is a culmination of a large number of disenfranchisements

Fellow europoor, I think we're civilised enough to respect other cultures no matter how barbarian some of them may appear to our standards.

Yep. Columbine was when we told everyone that shit like this gets you noticed, Sandy Hook was when we gave up fighting it.

Ever since Newtown happened, and then nothing meaningful happened, I realized that a our society values guns more than children.

I guess that could be a reason..

It's normal in the US.

the people that downvoted you don't want to admit it, but it has become normal.

Yup. Nothing will be done. They'll say this isn't about guns, it's a mental health matter & no funds will go towards mental health.

The people who can do anything are too busy fighting each other.

Because there seems to be this misunderstanding that gun control means taking away weapons.
