I apologize for the interruption. I'm upset and I'm so much pain today. Evening was going great this morning. Lots of energy, in a good mood. Then my knee full on dislocated. It happened due to a medical condition of mine. I didn't realize it was dislocated at first. I thought it was just locked on me. Then it popped back into place with a very loud crunchy pop sound. Now I'm in so much pain that my body is shaking, I'm fairly sure I'm dealing with adrenaline because my body is just cold now. And I'm probably going to do nothing about it. Why you might ask? Because doctors aren't trained to deal with rare disorders. They are trained to automatically dismiss the idea that you have a rare disorder. They do it even when you tell them you have a rare disorder.
Anyways, thank you for the chance to vent. Feel free to let this die in the void if usersub

EDS? Most doctors aren't great about that. Despite some obvious symptoms, I guess it's hard to test for. There are some doctors out there that understand it. Otherwise, some sort of therapist or movement focused (but not yoga) practitioner might be able to help.
littlefoxpounce
It can't be tested for at all. Yet.

You could try a physiotherapist. They are aware dislocations are a real thing and can help you with that pain

Everyone knows dislocations are a real thing. But a lot of doctors don't believe Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome is a real thing. Which it is.
DumpingSh1tandBeingKind2
Why don't they believe in it?? It has physical, visible symptoms, aren't facial features different in someone who has it? I think it's a fairly rare disorder though isn't it? But the hyper flexibility and multiple dislocations are something that can be physically seen, unlike other debilitating disorders/syndromes/illnesses like fibromyalgia, which I know some medical professionals don't believe in ...the "if I can't see it, can't do blood tests for, it can't be real" crap.

And the only way to diagnose eds is by eliminating every other possibility. No other way is known so far. At least for my version of eds

I've gone into doctors offices many many many many times. I get imaging and emerging and they tell me nothing is wrong with me. I only found out about me having eds in the past few years. Since then everything wrong with me has been blamed on cannabis, yet I have had these problems since I was a little kid. I get ignored much more than any doctor ever listens to me

*imaging and everything.

A dislocated patella or kneecap isn't much of an issue but a dislocated knee is an orthopedic emergency and needs assessment and immediate treatment. Go to the ER. Dislocation can damage blood vessels and nerves.

This.

Dislocations are a daily occurrence for me at this point with my medical condition. This one was just particularly bad this time. Honestly the most pain I've ever been in and I've fallen have first off a bike before. Doctors ignore me even when I'm sitting there crying due to the level of pain I'm in. They tell me to take ibuprofen and ice it. That's all they ever do for me. I keep dropping doctors because they don't take my issues seriously at all.

What is your medical condition? I'm going to guess Myeloencephalitis.

Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Rare genetic disorder that effects the connective tissue of the body, makes it easily damaged and doesn't heal. There's no test treatment therapy or medication for it.

I just read up on it as I've never heard of it. Estimate is 1 in 5000. It sounds like hell. I'm sorry you have to go through it.

Today has been the worst it's been so far. I don't know what to do about it anymore. I've tried everything doctors have suggested, I've argued with quite a few of them. I'm trying my best to stay sane when every day I'm in huge amounts of poison. But hey, at least I'm funny sometimes
