Impact marks from first bomb impact

This used to be the site of an aircraft hanger. The first bomb to fall at Pearl Harbor hit the corner of the hanger. Where the dirt is showing (concrete corners blown out) is where the hanger corner used to be. The other marks in the concrete are shrapnel impacts. It doesn't show up well in the photograph, but in person the radial pattern of the shrapnel is very apparent.

Shrapnel scars in the concrete from the first bomb that fell on Pearl Harbor (OC)

Just another angle on the bomb impact. Crazy that after all these years the first bomb impact is still there.

Original bullet holes in aircraft hanger windows

The museum folks on Ford Island are very proud of the fact that their windows are all original... Right down to the bullet holes.

Another window.

Oil escaping from the USS Arizona

'Nuff said.

Had to go to Hawaii on business (I know, right?) but Pearl Harbor was all I really want to see. Very moving experience .

I saw it when I was 7 yrs old. The names on the wall & the leaking oil are unforgettable. They told me bodies are still inside the Arizona
