In recent news articles, Sun Bears like the one used in the photo to make confession bear, have been shown to be very slim, including being called 'starved and skeletal' by animal activists.
Here is a photo of the bears at Indonesian's Bandung Zoo, begging for food from tourists. The zoo is denying allegations of under feeding the bears. The zoo is not new to controversy and online attention, having an elephant die after mistreatment (the article does not state if the elephant died as a result of said treatment.
Why should we care? This is mostly an awareness post related to a creature we see every day here, and how awful they're being treated. I'm not one for the abolishment of zoos, and I'm not very knowledgeable about the subject. However, poor treatment of animals does need to stop. Support these particular bears if you can, and if you see an animal being mistreated or hurt, be sure to speak up and try to get help for it.

That's not a Sun Bear, it's a Sloth Bear. Sun Bears are from Borneo and have a tight coat. Sloth Bears are from India, over 8000 km away.
