Because anything outside of very narrow preconceived notions is dismissed as "bad writing," and anything starring folks other than white dudes gets an outrageous amount of hate online. I didn't love the acolyte but it did some interesting things, and the specific complaint here, about a Jedi being killed by a knife, is ludicrous.
