I’ve never been in one. I’d be interested in trying one but their closest center is a 3 hour drive away and 142 miles (~230 km) with the shortest route. That doesn’t leave me feeling comfortable for service and I’d be using a significant chunk of the first charge just to get home.

the service center should have a type 2 or 3 charger on site.. my main grip is the range calculator.. it under estimates a heap.. have 80% .. 250km... drive 50+.. still 250km and battery at 65 if im a bit heavy with it. can high speed charge at 150kw max, regen is good/great depending on how aggressive you set it.. took mine on a long drive over xmas.. was at 15%.. plugged in.. ordered a snack from café.. was charged before drinks were bought out (80%)

I'm not the one you're replying to, but I just don't like SUVs, even ones that are halfway between a sedan and a crossover like this one. I hate that the only Cars made by the US Big Three manufacturers are the Mustang, Corvette, and Charger, with nothing for the consumer market. Below is a comparison of the Ford Fusion (sold elsewhere as the Mondeo) and the Ford Edge.
Seems like the Polestar 5 and 6 are both going to be actual Cars though.

The one I have hope for myself is the new Honda Prelude, which looks awesome to me- I prefer coupes- and I expect will have a full EV version in the next couple years

Both SUV and crossover (do people even know wtf that is?) are so overused. I thought it was big, but then I compared it to the good ol' Saab 900, and I was pleasantly surprised. And my old Impreza, that also helped. ("Huh, its smaller than it looks on the photos")
But it is definitely much wider than either.

Maybe it's mostly the "chunky" styling then, which reminds me a bit of a Dodge Caliber, but less extreme on the sharp angles. But yeah, the Polestar 2 is shorter than I thought.
As for defining a crossover though, almost all of them are hatchbacks or wagons that have been lifted, and have the roof raised to offer an upright driving position. Most are FWD. Whereas I would consider a "proper" SUV to be one that uses a truck chassis, or was otherwise designed from the start to be used offroad.

it is big.. my last 2 cars were smaller.. golf gti and Toyota altezza, similar size to the altezza but way higher center of gravity. I miss my gti's seats/bolsters.. its very comfortable but throw it around.. I tend to slide a bit (as in my ass.. miss the bolsters) beat part as its hot af In summer here.. I have a super clingy dog (rescue).. I can leave the ac on for her and mitigate the Facebook Karen patrols. it is fastback style so rear vision is limited. boot is good for a few murders

Polestar is just Volvo. Same as Infiniti is just Nissan and Acura is just Honda, Volkswagen/Audi/Porsche, Kia/Hyundai, etc....

little more to it than that.. polestar.. was part of Volvo's racing arm, was sold to geely (2nd or 3rd largest manufacturer in china) kept the Volvo design team.. now made in China. better built than much of the Chinese auto market as not as big on cost cutting and unproven features. the polestar 2 is a bit of an odd one as it was initially designed as a hybrid before polestar said nah.. full ev. I am bias though.. shout out to my LRDM peeps!!

curious, why the suv? ride height? larger boot? I got the ps2 as a heap were bought into nz and now all coming off lease.. so upgraded here and there, well looked after etc... my wife is now eyeing one.. the lol.. the base version.. srsm with basic kit.. costs more now than my high level model.. damn Iran war..

Geely bought (a very dying) Volvo from FORD, said "we bought you because we love what you do", handed them (reports vary) between 800 million and 1 BILLION dollars and said "go cook." and cook they did. We had a '16 XC90, a '23 XC40 Recharge, and now a '25 EX30. Love the new Volvo (even if I'm sad about EX90 teething problems)

yeah probably I dont follow it too much, more follow for stability etc.. not sure if polestar was an official part of Volvo but either way its a great car.. I just wish it was a little lower.. prior cars were golf gti and Toyota altezza, this is easily 30cm higher.. feels weird... but getting used to it

Polestar was (and still kind of is - you can get "Polestar Engineered" V60s and XC90s as a ECU and parts update) the performance arm of Volvo - much like M-division and AMG and TRD, etc.
The seating position in them is definitely more upright - a little blame can be laid at the feet of Americans' love of SUVs. I definitely miss our Focus ST (we looked at the GTI, but it felt a little sterile, and the Infotainment wasn't great in '16)...
