That last point is still classified Top Secret, isn't it.

I wouldn't trust the numbers China claims for a couple of these though, specifically, the COVID deaths and prison population.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I don't think the homeless statistic is actually right. The rest are spot on.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 5

He forgot anti-homeless architecture, police murdering people randomly due to logistical incompetence, police murdering people on purpose, contempt for the poor, banned books, and reality tv shows

Prison population? Maybe don't bring that one up........

I mean foreign bomb strikes were brutal under Obama. Magats like to call him soft but the motherfucker got bin Laden. Also, majority of Obama strikes were surgical drone strikes, very few civilian casualties

How dare he make me agree with a CCP official. What a fucking clown show.

To be fair China stopped reporting its COVID numbers early on so there’s no way to know for sure if that number tracks. A place more densely packed than 3 Americas would stand to reason a pandemic would have a greater effect.

The rest tracks though.

Probably true and I don’t really disagree but a “benevolent dictatorship” (or at least one with a little bit of effective self interest) could, in theory, be one of the most effective styles of government for handling something like an epidemic. A government that overnight enacted and strictly enforced every precautionary measure to the fullest could weather the storm as well as reported.

No reason to believe that happened but it’s in the realm of relative possibility.

I have to agree with China, even though they are asshole. But right now, America also is asshole.

1 year ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 2

wdym “right now”?

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

America has always been asshole. Just done well hiding it behind patriotism and propaganda.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Perhaps, but we are definitely bigger asshole now than before. We now have a prolapse that may be incurable.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think it’s more that a big part of the country shoved its head up its ass and the decided to just keep going dragging the rest into a collapsing ass(black)hole.

Stop! Just stop. You are both, equally as terrible as each other...

No fair! You got a headstart!

Except China doesn't have school shootings.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Well no but China has had a good few camps for the last good fear years where US has to catch up still.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Guantanamo Bay has been around for a while and there is a movie based on real life events that suggests not only did torture not gather any new intelligence but the CIA knew the torture wouldn't work. However even in the post China is making fun of you for having more people in jail. What really needs to catch up is your media savy.

China is not making fun of me i am not a American, but let's not have this guy be somewhat funny be the truth yeah? Covid infections and deaths well will never know how many China had was it 1 was it 100 million nobody knows. Prison pupulation do they count those death camps or are those not prisons?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not even fucking close, the poverty rate of the China has seen the biggest decline of every developed nation, they should have paid for their crimes in Tianamen square as well as many others but saying they are equally terrible is a disservice to reality

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

This is true, just keep in mind that it does cook its books and falsify the success rates. Still the transformation really is there and it's impressive to see a country that in my childhood has wages barely on on par with an impoverished African nation suddenlyars.

I think they were doing $0.50-$0.70usd an hour in 1990 whereas now they are closer to $1.50usd an hour. Doesn't sound like much until you factor in the 1.4 billion living there.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Plus the dollar per hour figure doesn’t mean much unless it’s converted by effective buying power in real goods like housing/food instead of straight currency conversion.

Like $1.50 an hour goes a lot further if enough groceries for a week costs $10, rent for a month is $100, and a car runs $5k.

Pretty ballsy to point fingers about covid, i watched videos of chinese authorities locking people in their buildings and welding the fucking door shut and just waited for them to die.

1 year ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 4

They did tell ppl to stay inside/ seclude if they were sick or were in contact with sick ppl.

And people didn't do as they were told, hospital were over capacity, so no treatment was available in any case...
With chinas population density, was prolly the smartest thing to do, even if cruel on individual level.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

We had like 1.2m people die from Covid; China reported 5000. somehow China, with a population 4 times as large as the US and the source of the sickness only had 5k died.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 6

China’s known for reporting things that reflect negatively on them, right? Not to mention that it was their mishandling of the outbreak in their country that allowed it to leave their country. And they did little to nothing to help internationally. Come on, be smart.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You guys are all missing my point: the numbers are cooked, and now the US is doing the same thing. We're no longer testing wastewater for COVID, so we won't know when the next major outbreak happens. Millions of people died and we'll just call it the common flu next time

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It absolutely is, China's conduct around Covid was horrific. Absolutely inhumane. Still, we have examples of elected government officials here in the US that are on record, in interviews saying, "We need to sacrifice Grandma to the economy." Over a million people died during Trump's presidency from Covid, and Covid's still a gigantic problem, because of Trump and his intentional mismanagement. China didn't care about its civilians whatsoever. Trump tried to use it as a political weapon.

1 year ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Both countries behaved atrociously over Covid. Its just showing how bad both governments can behave. I'm not saying that the US is worse than China, or even as bad, but both countries did absolutely horridly. It was a pandemic, but to the leadership in both countries, it was more important to save face than help people, as if it was some political ploy by their detractors.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

One of those country literally locked people inside their apartment. The other denied it even existed and just let countless people die horribly. Countless, because they literally just stopped counting.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That’s a tough one to judge in isolation. On one hand killing off infected people in a way that prevented the spread could have turned out to be the best of the bad options. If COVID turned apocalypse plague brutally effective solutions before they were clearly necessary could have saved a LOT of lives.

Denying the issue and spreading misinformation could have gone FAR worse even than it turned out and there is virtually no version of events where it was a sane or effective response.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean, America has a lot of terrible things that got a whole lot worse in recent months, but holy hell does china have a lot of terrible things, the key is they don't allow any of it to be reported, so it didn't happen, officially.

1 year ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

On the other hand, the two nations are now competing in their efforts to hide and refuse to acknowledge information. Little things like refusing to even openly study or discuss the possibility of scientific finding that might discourage lucrative industries.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You think the chem trails people that voted for Trump are better informed then Chinese citizens lol.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

They could be if they wanted to, they choose to be ignorant assholes, whereas the majority of Chinese citizens can generally only get carefully curated news about anything outside of their local area. So if something is happening all around China, let's say a bunch of people keep ramming their cars into crowds and children, but it's never on the news and then you see it once locally, you just think it's a freak incident, not a massive societal issue.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Except the Chinese people have some understanding that news is a lie. China has healthcare and no school shootings so you defending your position based on theoretical possibility of being more informed is kind MAGA level crazy. It's almost like even left wing people believe some fantasy about what being American is because they've never been anywhere else.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I can see that you have a very specific view of the world yourself. I am saying that the American citizens that voted for Trump are infinitely worse because they chose to self-propagandize, you are really seeing what you want in what I wrote. I have lived on 3 continents, only came to the US after the new millennium, so you are very wrong on that front. I don't care who is 'better' than who at specific statistics, freedom and human rights should not be a competition, just a goal.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Freedom and human rights hasn't been an American goal since JFK died though is my point. You want to pretend it's not been going downhill since he died so much you are defending an absolutely absurd position. The disturbing thing about your position is Trumps campaign was able to win by stopping voters from voting and you want to pretend it's just Trump supporters in some state of denial.
