This is not to defend MAGA / republican supporters, but they are being controlled through mass misinformation from right wing media. In many parts of the country they only get “news” from a MAGA viewpoint. In larger markets, traditional news outlets are under constant attack and criticism. And then, traditional media gives undue time to outlandish and hateful sources to present “both sides”. This legitimatizes the messaging from MAGA in the mind of the public.

Not to mention they're robbed of the training that would have nurtured critical thinking. Even if they have access to differing view points, they're lacking the cognitive tools, be it a physical impairment due to growing up with lead in everything, or intellectual starvation by means of lackluster education, even conditioning by bad-faith hucksters posing as clergymen who condition their followers to toe the line without question to such an end that they're susceptible to con artists.
