Musk is a neo-Nazi, but he's also been obsessed with the "X" branding for literal decades. He invested the majority of his fortune in 1999 into creating the first X.Com during the Dotcom bubble, because he was utterly fixated on "X marks treasure, so X will mark the comprehensive financial app that everyone will use for all their finance-related needs!"
He ended up in a merger with Paypal, and tried to destroy that brand too so he could replace it with X. He failed.

Even I recognize that the letter X being the 88th character in ASCII is coincidental. First, nobody uses decimal for ASCII. The marketing trend characterized by a disproportionate, aggressive emphasis on the letter "X"—often stylized as "Xtreme" or front-loaded into product names—peaked during the 1990s and early 2000s. Why? Lots of dumb reasons, which is how you get Gen-X. The flag pole thing is incidental. It's a 80 foot flag pole and 1:10 is the standard burial ratio. The truth is boring.
