This time last year (June 30), I had to put my dog down.
Today, my wife of 12 years left me.
But I guess this is good news for anyone who's interested in her...
Seriously though, I'm gutted.
Losing my wife, my kids, extended family (I even love my MiL), and life in my small town. No way I'll be able to afford another place here.
EDIT: Thanks for all the kind words and jokes. You've all made me feel less alone.
To clarify about my kids, I have not lost any rights to them. I meant I've lost the life I have with them now. I'll have them sometimes, but I won't see them nearly as often.
BlinkSpunk
I feel you. that happened to me five years ago. 20 years of marriage just gone. You'll grow and thrive. Just get therapy
martentos
Your relationship with your MIL and other extended family is not dependent on her, let them decide if they want to continue.
BH1904
MIL is no doubt gutted for you both and however odd, and be a good shoulder for you too. Good to keep that friendship for the kids.
AmyRene
I went through this a few years back. Get some therapy. Move to another part of the country. It's worth it, trust me.
Baron29
Can't do that. I need to be close to my kids
IusallypoopwhileImonhere
It’s good news man no matter how it feels now. Divorce isn’t the end of a happy marriage. It’s the end of a bad one. I’ve been there.
jelladelta
Get a new dog. New wife will follow.
mrsircaptainrich
I have no job, no money, and no house. I'm 37 and alone and my only parent died a year ago next week. Wanna hang out?
Baron29
I dunno... Sounds like you have bad luck! I don't need that! Besides, you need a younger man
clint23185
Depends on the reason she's leaving. did you mess up an give her hpv because you messed around with your best friends sister?
cdel58
Read that part of losing kids? Hopefully not and you get to be in their life. You’re still dad!
Baron29
Not losing them entirely, but at best I'll be seeing them 50% of the time
BlueLanternBraxx
Time to catch up on all those games you didn't get to play! Sorry, bro, just trying to put a positive spin on it.
Baron29
Thanks, I appreciate it
NickRivieraMD
It's painful but it's doable. I did and so have more people than you can shake a stick at.
GirlsToTheFront
This is a lot of grief you're going through. I'm sorry! Please see a therapist? And make your kids feel loved right now. One day at a time..

Life is a series of ups and down hang in there hold your head up high keep the faith that better days are ahead of you focus on yourself
PacManDreaming
Wait...there's ups in life?
Baron29
Thanks, I'm trying. My hole looks pretty deep from where I'm sitting, but I'm trying.

I am really sorry Op. i also divorced and put my dog down the same year. DM if you want to talk. This is the “flood” it will get better
Baron29
Thanks ghostdog. At least mine weren't both in the same year (it was a year and 4 days)!
thaGh0stD0g36
For sure my guy
admiralSSGHALO
It fucking blows and it will hurt, probably for a while, it gets better, focus on you, what you love to do, find yourself again.
Sqeezytzatziki
Escape now and don't return!!
Baron29
But all of my money is in the form of my house ...
imnotarealgiraffe
What happened??? Are you ok??
Baron29
We've been having problems for a while. Covid definitely didn't help. She talked to me about "re-evaluating the relationship" just after /1
Baron29
Xmas, which just crushed me. She later said maybe we shouldn't re-evaluate until covid is over. Then this morning, out of the blue, she/2
Baron29
said it's over. I know she's been depressed for a while, and I suspect her losing feelings is probably why. Now I'm in an empty house /3
imnotarealgiraffe
Hmm mind if I ask what kind of problems? If I'm prying let me know just thinking about things
Baron29
Mostly external stress, made worse by poor communication on both our parts
Volpe42
What about your MIL then?
joleeen
Oh my god I can’t believe he admitted it! Now he has to a marry his a mudder in a law! https://youtu.be/8YDpvMYk5jA

I smell a sitcom…..
Baron29
Oh you...
DonnaNobleInTheLibrary
I mean, just because your wife left you doesn't mean you're not allowed to stay in contact with your MIL and her family.
PotatOSLament
Ultimate power play is when the MiL invites you to X-mas and gives you a better gift than her actual daughter.
MeowWoof
Heh heh heh "in contact"
RTK4740
well, shit.
Onsvaltti
Man, that sucks. T__T I hope things will work out for you. Are you going to get a new pupper to keep you company?
Baron29
I think I'll be taking the cat
FuckingTurtleBear
Be kind to yourself mate, home yourself accountable where necessary, if at all, but be kind too
Baron29
Thanks. I'm trying.
FuckingTurtleBear
I meant 'hold' but my phone wants you to have a home as well.
golddragon2000
Good luck in your future endeavors.
Baron29
Thanks. Your wonderfully formal statement made me chuckle
golddragon2000
Anytime. I live to serve.
TheUtahn
I'm under threat of this as well. If it happens to me I'm going to just live my dream of cutting out liquidating and traveling the world.
Baron29
That'd be nice, but I have 2 young kids I still need to be there for
REOJackwagon
You could maybe take a weekend vacation. See some local stuff you always wanted to see
REOJackwagon
YouTube has a lot of comedy too, Billy Connolly is pretty funny
isthistrue
If it did not work, you'll be much happier in 5 years with a new partner. Focus on the kids - they can't find a new mother/father.
ChromaticPassingTone
Hang in there, OP.
ThighHighsSaveLives
Careful with that choice of words
Baron29
Thanks, I'm trying
ChefLes
Need to chat? Drop me a message. My tz probably doesn't match yours, but I can distract you with recipes if you like cooking.

My old gal, Hazy, also crossed the rainbow bridge on June 30, 2020. Maybe they are howling at the moon together or some shit.
Nnoodles
You better spend some quality time with your truck while you can.
Baron29
Does a car count as a truck?
NoTrumpEver
I'm kind of there with you? I've checked out on my husband, for a while now. We've tried to fix things though keep trying. More bad stuff
Baron29
Give it a try, if it's a communication thing. Freezing someone out doesn't help. Sorry, that's just my perspective from my situation
NoTrumpEver
Agreed. It usually does not. Once you've talked it out as much as you can to a one sided conversation, checking out eventually happens.
Baron29
Is that with counselling? My wife and I have that problem. I just don't get what she means...we express ourselves differently. /1
Baron29
If we had tried counselling, I think we could have learned how to get through to each other. Sadly, we didn't try./2
Baron29
BTW, I like your username...
NoTrumpEver
Been trying for 6 years....
Baron29
Please. Try counselling. I'd give anything to go back and try it, but it's too late. If you've tried it and it didn't work, you might/1
Baron29
just not be compatible with that counselor. Maybe try another. /2

Sounds like you’ve got a country album to start writing
Baron29
Yes!

Very truck-ish, I guess?
DorfFortress
I'm sorry OP, but I hope after some healing you find your way back to happiness. I thought my first divorce was the end of my life and I'd
DorfFortress
Never be happy again. I spent time practicing self love and being gentle on myself and when I wasn't looking found the love of my life
DorfFortress
Please take time for yourself to mourn the situation and then actively work on loving yourself and being patient happiness can return
DorfFortress
It hurts for a while but I promise it gets easier
obenfermera1
I too thought my life was over after my first divorce. Completed my third divorce last September....I'm definitely getting better at it.
obenfermera1
Practice makes perfect, never give up on love!
Baron29
Thanks

If you're in Central Texas somewhere, you can come live with me if you'd like. Just pm me.
Baron29
Southern Ontario Canada, but thanks for the offer
heretokickassandupvotecomments
That's only a few minute drive, he'll be right there.
PotatOSLament
I’ve got a friend in the Yukon, if you’re not averse to living in the middle of nowhere.
PotatOSLament
May or may not be a shorter drive than to Texas.
Baron29
Thanks, but I'd like to see my kids again...
PotatOSLament
Fair enough.
SacrificialClam
Excuse me, no. I't's good news for anyone interested in YOU.
cookieloverforever42

AnyaNorthern
Life kicks us all in the ass, turn around, wink - and tell it you're into that.
Empathau225
You single?
Baron29
I very much don't want to be, but yes I guess I am
weerdo
Luckily its a good time to be single.. lockdown is over and summer is here.. enjoy yourself before any kind of commitment
Baron29
it's gonna be a rough go for me. I've never been very good with women, I'm almost 50, and my wife is much younger and EXTREMELY attractive/1
Baron29
Hey, I read your depression post. Are you doing ok?
Empathau225
Hope you got a giggle out of my comment. Yea I’m doing a little better mate thanks for asking. Feel free to swing a DM, we can chat about it
Baron29
