YAY! and Love the dress. Have been thinking about this alot lately, especially when I hear the phrase: ' "NO" is a complete sentence.' Not growing up in my house! My "NO" was an invitation for bullying, ridicule or being ignored until the "NO" was sufficiently backpedaled. Took me a long time to see this & understand why just saying no did not work for me & almost always came with undesirable consequences. May seem obvious, but connecting the dots was a revelation. Still is.

I told most of the company I work for "No" the other day in a meeting. Technically, I told them "Time out! No. We're not going to do that. It's unnecessary, expensive, and we are just NOT going to do it." It's not my position to take that kind of stand but hell, noone argued past a bit of spluttering, the CEO laughingly backed me up, and I was not fired. So I've got that going for me. Which is nice.

I just love situations like two jobs I had at around 30: Interviewed as software developer, asserted in the interview that I definitely won't do support calls through the phone. In both jobs it only took a couple of weeks for people to start pressuring me to do it and after a couple months "but it's part of the job!!" ... yeah well, not the job I interviewed and got hired to do
