The fall of Syria was almost definitely coordinated in part by Mossad with explicit approval from the west/US. Hezbollah were a major ground support network for Syria, and the disparate forces suddenly alligning to take 3 cities in 3 days doesn't happen without the likes of Mossad providing intelligence. However, as much as Israel are arseholes, having Russian weaponry fall into Al-Queda's hands so close to Europe is pretty worrying. There's no good guys in this war.

The US is backing al-Qaeda in Syria. There is plenty of criticism to level at Iran and their axis of resistance, but they have been actively fighting al-Qaeda and ISIS across the region. Were it not for Israel, the smart move would have been for the US to forge some sort of deal with Iran to result in more stability and less bloodshed. Unfortunately, stability doesn't serve Israel's interests.

Everything since the Abraham Accords and Oct 7th has been about removing Iran's powerbase, and reinforcing Turkey, Saudi, and Israel as the main powers in the region. Don't forget while all eyes have been on Israel / Palestine / Lebanon / Syria, the Saudis have been systematically wiping out Iran's proxies in Yemen, with less regard for civilian casualties than even Israel have in Gaza.

Just like they did with Hamas ousting Fatah and replacing the PLO, Israel will be covertly supporting ISIS / AQ to run riot in Syria, while paying lip service to the SDF. Having recognised terrorist organisations in charge of their neighbours lands rather than "legitimate" govt is the perfect excuse to deny any real moves to statehood and justify military action & landgrabs.
