Maxgaap
To capitalize on recent viral trends it has been renamed Wok Tuah
NoIWillNotFixYourComputerWhenIComeOverForDinner
Pho King shit man

Fyi they do this bc they were underpaying employees and not paying taxes, and they change hands to avoid getting in trouble for it.
aface62
Just wok away.

Re: the text under the picture. I think that's exactly what the picture is insinuating.

I do this with reddit shadowbanning my accounts because I use a VPN.

Fun fact: A lot of restaurants have numbers that are lucky or have historical significance.
apocynum
Yep. For a lot of the restaurants it’s the year they immigrated.
ubnty
They could at least be creative about it-
jankeydadondc
Wok-tuah! More like.
zombiejedediah
Wok 24 was also known as "Wok Around the Clock"
Cayowin
99% invisible did an amazing episode explaining the naming convention. https://99percentinvisible.org/episode/changing-stripes/transcript/ Basically the numbers after the name are either auspicious or important to the owners.
doodlydoofus
Hey, only 6 Woks since your childhood is a pretty good ratio.
300Hectares1TankofKerosene
Mmmmm rat droppings and roaches.
eetsumkaus
Only the finest wonton and siumai

public health officials are politically appointed. maybe consider voting for a different party.
skyspirit
When I moved into town there was 'China House'. They closed and then, 'China House 2', then 'China House 3' & today stands, 'China House IV'
longleggedbeastie
I think their second itsration was Wok 2, and the third one - Wok 21, because why would you remove a perfectly good piece of the sign
meganical
There’s a restaurant building near my childhood house that changes owners and names frequently. They also change the type of food but it always gets shut down within a year of opening. Friend worked there and wasn’t sure if it was even a legitimate business before he quit
Thesonshade
That 8 yo.
GoombaLord
Ignorance is bliss when it comes to a restaurant's health inspection records.
KingMagenta
Just to clarify that this is a meme. They were always called Wok 22 and only changed their name once to Wok 28 in the mid 2000s.
Gort207
Yep, right down the street from me. Remember when the extension was built... used to end (?) at Bocce's. Was Besta's before that before they moved to Millersport.
OhIfIMust
The school of hard woks.
Fryfryfryfry
It's a hard wok life

the dirtier the restaurant, the better the food
TheJudgeHasItBackwards
My favorite resturant has a bathroom straight out of Trainspotting... I'd rather use a construction port-a-potty, but holy shit the drunken noodle and the Pad Thai are fucking delicious.
zmaysonet17
That and whoever took your order has to seem at least slightly annoyed or unamused.
USSBigBooty
It's all fun and games until you die of syphilis brought on by dirty shrimp toast.
Arbitrarynamehere
Eh, worth it
PineappleLoopsBroether
Omg I love this, I want it inside me.
DontAskMeAboutMyUsernameOkay
I love how obvious it is with the 8 being far less sun-bleached than the rest.
PikachuOnDeezNuts
And a completely different size
eetsumkaus
I also have something that's much less sun bleached than the rest of me and a different size...
Nalianna
is it much much much smaller?
zoomzoomzoomweregoingtothemoon
What about the font? Is it more straight or curved?
eetsumkaus

There was a card shop at my local mall that would close down and open up with a different name once a year. Heard later on that it was a group of friends avoiding taxes.
shakefu
The difference between a hobby and a business is a little bit of public advertising. Generally you have two years to show a profit or significant revenue before anyone bats any eyelash. They probably bought so many cards tax free.
FallingStar7669
Man, if giant corporations can do it, the little folks can do it too. Good on 'em, hope they kicked the system in the balls.
AlwaysUpvoteBrockIsARapist
It is a dangerous game for the little guy to do it. In the big Corp you have a massive amount of diffusion of responsibility. But when you scale it down it becomes far less of a problem to prosecute just a couple people.
podkayne13
Law school didn't rob us of our very souls, but we aren't the same at parties like we used to be.
eetsumkaus
If you didn't lose your soul in law school, you lost it in the workforce.
AlwaysUpvoteBrockIsARapist
I don't know if the soul being lost in the workforce is right, I think of it more as beaten into oblivion.
There is just enough of it there for you to appreciate how much things suck, but not enough to be motivated to do anything about it.
HonestCommentFarmer
Better than my local card shop. It was a front for drugs.
Nalianna
even worse, my local drug shop... was a front for cards
ZeroZeta
Hey, these card games can get really expensive!
Nalianna
Marijuana was my gateway drug... to Magic the gathering.
ZeroZeta
Had a green deck, did you?
eppykaze
A Pho place by me has done the same. Up to 96 last I looked.
ImgurIsOutOfUsernames
That might explain why the soup always smells like dirty mop bucket water.
