Eight year anniversary

This is Severus, and today is eight years to the day when I first got him. He's a grumpy, fuzzy lump and I love him dearly. Here he is today...

...And here is when he first arrived, a perplexed little fuzzball, confused about where he was. I still remember him strutting around with pride at his first succesful hunt (having succesfully and bravely caught a leaf). I remember the times he went missing for days on end, and the relief and happiness when he got home again.

There's no dark turn here. He is happy and warm and safe. It's just easy to take pets for granted and not realize how important they are. So if you're a pet owner, give them an extra hug today.
