I hurt my cat, maybe badly...

The apartment manager has never seen Scoop, so when she stopped by, I was holding Scoop. Scoop will put up with being held because she knows it helps me. However, she doesn't like strangers since no longer living in a newsroom (she's lived with me since about this time 2017.
Ever since, she has been walking gingerly and not jumping on the bed or anything. I ran my hands over her to check for problems, and she winces in pain when I reach her backquarters. I can't tell where she hurts exactly, but it looks to be the pelvic area on both sides.
I've tried calling the vet, but no phone answering machine is there -- the phone just "clicks." I have to substitute teach tomorrow and can't get to sleep and am crying off and on. this little soul trusts me to take care of her.

I hope the vet can get me in after school is out and will call first thing. But I'm scared. Last year for me was two ER visits, two surgeries (July and September), one procedure (June), COVID while healing in July, and other things. I haven't worked since May, but I got paid through summer and had rent assistance through January. Job search is going meh. Having SAD slows me down quite a bit.
I'm going to try and get some sleep, but if anyone can comment intelligently on this -- like it may be she is bruised and no broken bones --- I'd appreciate it.

As the photo shows, she's not making eye contact with me. The plastic wrap is one of her beds because she used to play and skid around the old printing press area on large plastic sheets when she was a kitten.

I feel so awful.

Can anyone give any insights or encouragement?

*** Addendum: she leaped from my arms to the hard kitchen floor when she heard the apartment manager and ran off. She follows me from room to room (slowly) and is in her bed in the bedroom, my late fiancee's quilt which she took a liking to and I shaped into a bed -- walls around an indented center.

I still can't sleep. I'm not sure if she can or just like the soft quilt.
