Story: UK government telling me I must return to the office because if I don’t, the ‘Pret A Manger’ workers will all lose their jobs. While I feel for those workers, I don’t see why I should spend 2 hours commuting on a crowded tube every day at a cost of £4000 per year ($5300), and £15 per day in breakfast lunch and coffee, just because Tarquin the 22 year old student is working at pret to fund his ‘gap yah’ and needs me to buy his damn sandwiches. Imagine if instead of building crossrail 2 to shunt yet more workers into crowded central London, we spent the taxpayers money on better internet access or just anything else. “But what will we do with all the sandwich makers?!!!” Really this just seems like the tail wagging the dog. If there’s no demand for sandwiches in central London then pret won’t get to make millions for their overpriced sandwiches. Simples.

This seems to be in English but feels like it's an entirely different language.

Replace pret with Starbucks, the tube with the worst transport system you can think of.
