#1 I bought a red leather jacket, dad immediatly called me Micheal Jackson.

Back in high school, this girl in one of my classes came in wearing a light, creamy brown leather jacket. It was covered in long fringe and big round buttons, all the same color. Tackiest thing. My buddy turned to her and said, "Nice jacket, Liz. Shoot your couch?" And she smiled and blinked in confusion, saying, "what do you mean?"

None of that would deter me, though I do wear weirder stuff so kinda curious on the comments.

I've yet to see "in bruges", but I've have seen the scene where they tell the fat Americans that they shouldn't go up to the top of the building and don't know what they said that's so offensive. But all of these seem like they could be a scene in said movie. 🤣🤣

It's kinda weird to me for people to comment on what others are wearing. Frankly I haven't seen that happen since high school.

Friend was standing in front of the attelier smoking (break area) , wearing a hawaiian shirt, so naturally I greet him with a Hey Nick Sloter. He just makes a mark on the wall with a coal stick, without looking my way. I was #8 in 5 minutes

I once was bald at the SNF I worked at cuz chemo. Had a black trench on and an elderly dude said, ā€œHello Fatherā€
I just said, ā€œBless you my sonā€

I once wore a grey shirt -iirc it had a blue design on the front, with grey pants. And was met with ā€œlook at this cunt, he’s wearing all grey!ā€. (Australia) Still never really recovered from that.

I wore dark blue pants , matching booties, and a light blue top. Office partner called me a walking crayon.

I have a friend thats only know as Dicken because when he was a kid and had a cold he went in to a store and asked for a can of Dicken Doup (chicken soup). To date, nobody knows his real name.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I went through this weird obsessive phase where I'd wear one color.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Does wearing all grey mean something or were they just making fun of you because your shirt and pants were the same color?

2 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

Unless it’s black, you generally want some contrast between your top and bottom. Otherwise it looks like a uniform. But that’s hilarious.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have always heard it referred to as an "elephant suit" (due to the color, not the size)

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

same colour, I thought I looked good but apparently it’s comical to others

2 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

Unless you're on your way to the gym, you can't get away with wearing all grey.

Considering the average bloke in a pub wears yesterdays shirt with last weeks lunch on it, the heckling doesn't sting as much as it could.

2 years ago | Likes 112 Dislikes 6

Yeah, I love that the Irish just have a way with insults. Its like a good-natured greeting. "Hey there! Can you take a joke?" "Hey there, you bet!"

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

As a general rule, the more harsh you are with the insults the more you like the person.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's not really heckling, it's banter. You could mention last week's lunch on their shirts, if you do it in a clever way, you'll get a laugh & a beer.

2 years ago | Likes 497 Dislikes 4

This is true, and I both love and hate it. It's incredibly funny and often very very clever, but it's also brutal esp if you have anxiety. It's (usually) not meant to be cruel, but it very much can be.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As an Irishman now living in the US it gets lost in translation a lot. I'd ask you to be understanding that it's an expression of love that comes from hardship. If we poke fun it's because we like you and consider you worthy. It's a weird Irish compliment. Give back as hard as you get and we'll wrap our arms around you! Humility is the destination. ā¤ļø

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh for sure! I know it's done affectionately, my grandpa was the same way. I'm used to ribbing and joking around, but occasionally people do hit a nerve or insecurity. I generally love it, I'm just a very anxious person so it can be difficult sometimes

I only spent three months in Dublin, but I feckin loved it.

I grew up American-Irish, which is not the same... but... well, best (and most racist) way I can put this is that the Irish are like... potatoes. And the American-Irish are like potato salad. No one would confuse the two. But take away the potato and all you have is mayo and white whine. -- anyway, everyone in Ireland reminded me of my family on my mother's side. Polite, kind, but sarcastic/sardonic as HELL.

2 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

We like to remind ourselves and our dearest friends that we're not that special or important. Humility is a valuable life lesson. Gentle Irish bullying is character building. It's how we express love! ā¤ļø

This would be my Irish-American mother’s side of my family as well. We live and breathe in sarcasm.

You have no idea. There's a guy in our village whose name is cornelius Kearney. Con for short. So obviously his nickname is Chili.

Irish nicknames (& Aussie nicknames) are on a whole 'nother level. Love it. & if an Irish person blesses you with a nickname, that's your name for LIFE. Even the priest will call you it.

I ran out the door to go to a PTA meeting tonight around 615om. Got to my covered spot... It was empty. Like no car. Where's my fucking car?! I've been parking in this spot, that I pay for, for nearly 1.5 years. Talked to a neighbor - I've been towed earlier in the day. I'm devastated. It's too late in the day to call anyone. I'll have to take care of it. I'm all cried out and finally in bed. It's 1127pm and am having a good laugh at these fucking tweets. I needed this. I hope I can get this ...

2 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 1

why were u towed if u pay for that spot wtf

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I. Know. That's what's so confusing. I'm just sick over this. I'm going immediately as soon as the office opens to see what the hail is going on and what they're going to do about it.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

sorted tomorrow. I'm trying not to freak out. I thought my car had been stolen for about 10 minutes until I saw my neighbor and asked him if he'd seen my car today. We don't really "know" each other. We just happen to park in the same vicinity as each other. I'm super bummed I missed the PTA meeting, too. Anyways, I just needed to vent and was happy I got my mood lightened so much by this post.

2 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

Call the police and report it stolen?

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

It wasn't stolen.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

as the other answer said, you are renting that parking spot and its your car that was parked there, its literally theft...plus unlawful entering of private property...like, if you let the window of your appartment open and someone climbs in and takes your stuff, thats basically the same, its not "breaking and entering" because they didnt have to break in, but entering and stealing shit...btw, before towing cars from private property a tow company normally need to be called by someone and that >

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

> person generally has to proof to them that they are entitled to have someone towed there, which is only the owner of the property and the renter of the parking spot, the latter being you and you didnt have yourself towed...the tow company normally is careful there for exactly this reason, unlawful towing is theft...of a car, which often is expensive, so its a felony...so theoretically the guy who had you towed was your landlord...who should know better...weird situation...one more reason to >

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If you pay for the spot and it was parked legally then yes it was stolen.
