On a bush.
They appear to have hatched a few hours afyer the first photo. My guess is some kind of fuzzy caterpillar.

Actually not sure about the Buck moth anymore. This says the adult fly between October and Novemeber and I think they have to be flying to lay the eggs.

Buck moth looks like a good candidate. Don't recall seeing the adults around, but we shall see.
