The longer this goes on, the higher the likelihood more countries will being willing to participate in the war. Iran's gamble is countries would be more willing to abandon the US then help them in a war. I just dont believe that will happen. The gulf countries alone hate Iran along with the greater sunni/shia conflict they are very unlikely to join Iran's side. Europe is beholden to capital interests much like the US. Iran fucking with the strait is them fucking with the money

You dont fuck with the money so big money interests is definitely pushing Europe to aid the US. If the gulf countries and European allies join the war, a total ground invasion of the whole country becomes possible. But even smaller scale of taking the coast would also be very possible

I mean, Congress still needed to ratify the treaty and Trump would have needed to sign it. He very literally could have scheduled a “negotiation” talk (where nothing changed) and told his base that he was able to get a better deal and they would have eaten it up. And the media would have too. He didn’t have to do a fucking thing but take credit for the treaty. This is like some really hard worker putting together a fucking pristine presentation and the boss adding their name to it and/1
