Reposting because Imgur glitched out yesterday, and this is important. They say those who do not remember history are doomed to repeat it. It's important to note that those who suppress the teaching of history (looking at you, Republicans) plan on repeating it. Don't think it can't happen again, or can't happen here. It can. Look at the worst attendees of a Trump rally, or the J6 traitors.

When one member of our party is attacked, we all roll for initiative.

Sounds like gazalighting to me....

Reminder that at their core, most conservatives will go back to this if given the chance. Looking at US Republicans and Project 2025 which is made by the Heritage Foundation and truly scary. Not just for US citizens but the effect it would ripple out having a Republic change in a quick manner.

When I was a preteen, I put together this binder of WW2 that was basically an hourly history of everything from WW1 to the end of WW2. I was obsessed and it is the one thing I regret losing. But, unfortunately it makes me far to aware of everything leading up to the worst parts of the war. I want to believe that things may shake out differently because the internet this time around. But I'll be honest. I'm prepared for the worst, but I hope for the best.

Well, we in Germany had our "Kristallnacht" and the USA had their Jan 6 Capitol Attack. Now we know the USA would do the same as Germany (and DID!) AND unlike the germans they did so in FRONT of ALL the modern MEDIA + social Media so there's evidence like crazy.

I wasnt aware of that ambassador's murder, but indeed jews who migrated to France turned into very active saboteurs, or "terrorists" as the occupation force called them, who then took hostages among the locals to be put to the firing squad unless arrests were made.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

And the jews learned... NOTHING. They are acting like their opressors. When the tides change, they will be opressed again.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 11

Please don't call it Kristallnacht anymore.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 4

A lot of people still really hate Jewish people and they absolutely are fanning the flames of antisemitism right now. They're cynically using the Palestine crisis as a cover. They're taking people horrified by the violence and Using them. You can be anti Israel all day, it's very easy to be anti Netanyahu, but I'm stood here and seeing perfectly reasonable people turn into conspiracy theorists now. Being brainwashed.

The people who are defeated never change their ideals, they just know they have to bide their time before trying their bullshit again. They stew on the bitterness of their defeat, learn from their mistakes and their ideals become even more twisted. Then, enough time passes, and because people are fickle and have short memories, it inevitably happens again.

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Our only comfort is that, as the decades go on, their numbers gradually become a smaller percentage of the overall population. But even *that* is only if we remain vigilant.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I don't understand people's adherence to their imaginary sky god, if someone points a gun at me ( or a knife, or pitchfork or torch) and asks me if I am "X" religion I would definitely deny it. That being said, violence should not be condoned , yet our species looks at every little thing and asks, "can this be used as a weapon?"

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Easier said than done in many cases, and for many people it's literally part of their identity. I'm guessing you're an atheist... how well would you pass for [insert religion here] if your life depended on it?

L'chaim, praise Jesus,  - As-salamu alaikum

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that wouldn't fly! My standard question for asking "ex-Muslims" is to recite Fatiha, which if they were as devout as they claimed to be, they'd know it well from reciting it 17 times a day daily. In all my years of doing it, not a single one has managed it.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I knew a decent amount about this event, but not in detail like this. It was interesting (and saddening, of course), to read.

Full honour and respect to Germany for keeping these horrific memories alive. Meanwhile, in my Jewish neighbourhood in Canada, we now have police cars permanently stationed outside schools, community centres and daycares.

I almost stopped reading when I thought they fucked up the word Program in the first sentence. Pogrom = An organized, often officially encouraged massacre or persecution of a minority group, especially one conducted against Jews.

Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss would disagree. Zionism is a (relatively) new movement, when compared to the entirety of Judaism. "Judaism is subservience to God, that's what it's all about; It's a religion of 3000 years. While Zionism is a mere 150 years. It's a transformation to nationalism; to have a piece of land. It's a political movement; it's a materialistic movement."

2 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 4

Imagine quoting a literally insane person who takes part in Holocaust denial conferences while pretending that he is in any way, shape or form an authority on this topic.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 13

My apologies, I was not aware he was a holocaust denialist. And I don't think the Israeli Citizens are to blame for any of this. They are as powerless as any of us are with our own government. But that doesn't mean that blindly accepting genocidal actions towards an imprisoned people who have no power over what happens to their own land and aren't free to leave, and are being bombed willing by the IDF, is okay. We are past what any "sane" individual would claim is "acceptable retaliation".

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Read this: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-67327079 Do you think a nation engaging in genocide would go through this much trouble to save civilians?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 13

"Nazi officials disguised the organized nature of the pogroms." Today's Nazis use GoPros to livestream and brag about their pogroms.

2 years ago | Likes 109 Dislikes 3

That's the thing though, it's a paper-thin deception. Like how it's obvious to anyone with a brain that Trump and company deliberately provoked the J6 riots, but there aren't official orders saying "Go here and stop the certification."

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

"Kristallnacht" is the euphemistic Nazi propaganda term for it, comparing the shards of broken glass from jewish windows to crystals. It is to be called "Reichspogromnacht".

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

And yet Germany has forbidden most Pro-Palestinian protest groups stating that they're anti-israel. And yet the anti-jewish are still the white nazis.

2 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 17

Two groups, Hamas and and Samidoun. Let's stick to the facts, shall we? https://www-bundesregierung-de.translate.goog/breg-de/aktuelles/hamas-verbot-2234286?_x_tr_sl=de&_x_tr_tl=en And no, this sort of thing isn't limited to palestinians https://www-zdf-de.translate.goog/nachrichten/politik/verbotene-rechtsextreme-organisationen-deutschland-100.html?_x_tr_sl=de&_x_tr_tl=en

Wow thank god palestinians are judged at the same level as nazis!/s Imagine burning a place down so badly you become infamous for burning this place down and then being on the lookout that someone else does not try some of that only because you did. Pandereconomics at its highest level.

When someone is abused, they either become an abuser themselves, or they can become someone who fights against abuse in all its forms. Can this be applied to today? (sic)

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 8

Fact #1 It's not called "Kristallnacht" anymore! That's a term coined by Nazi propaganda at the time. It's called "Pogromnacht" nowadays.

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 5

It is still called kristallnacht. The idea that you can't use the terms Nazis cooked up for things just because they were Nazi propaganda is idiotic. It stinks of not wanting to say the name Voldemort.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It's an euphemism and propaganda term, in no time any comparable with a person's name. It was chosen to convey a certain meaning.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's very similar to calling the Holocaust "Endlösung". You don't do that, do you? Believe me, there are decades of discussion on what to call these dreadful events an "Kristallnacht" is one that has long been phased out.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

You are simply wrong to say it has been "phased out". You are *trying* to phase it out. I grew up calling the Holocaust the Holocaust and Kristallnacht Kristallnacht and the Enabling Act the Enabling Act. Linking the original phrases because they use the Nazi phrasing doesn't make an actual argument that it's wrong.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I see now that this discussion has completely been ignored in English speaking countries. Well, then go on mocking the victims.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It's the height of arrogance to demand and expect that speakers of other languages undergo the same linguistic debates and draw the same conclusions as whatever happened in your language. It's not mockery; it's just using a different word. Of all the artificial words to replace it with though - Pogromnacht? As if it was the only pogrom? Sounds like you're mocking all the other Pogrom victims through the ages.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Btw. We call it 'Pogromnacht' now since 'Kristallnacht' is the nazi propaganda term.

2 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 4

yes but the rest of the world still knows what it was called and what it was

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

says who? Renaming stuff with well-recognized names is generally ill-advised. People know what "Kristallnacht" refers to, "Pogromnacht" people have never heard of.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 21

What are you talking about? I learned the term Pogromnacht 20 something years ago in elementary schools including the knowledge that the term Kristallnacht should be avoided (as it only focuses on the material damage).

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

I understand the rationale... I saw the term "Krystalnacht" sort of like "comfort women". It's a ghastly euphemism that somehow only emphasizes the underlying horror. But if it doesn't have that effect, then it has to go.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Who is “we”? I’ve never heard anyone in the Jewish community ever refer to it as Pogromnacht.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

In *your* jewish community, it is a commonly used term in Germany and in the form of "Reichspogromnacht" also endorsed by https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_Council_of_Jews_in_Germany See: https://www.zentralratderjuden.de/aktuelle-meldung/">any">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_Council_of_Jews_in_Germany See: https://www.zentralratderjuden.de/aktuelle-meldung/artikel/news/zentrale-gedenkveranstaltung-85-jahrestag-der-reichspogromnacht-1/

Yes. My Jewish community, here in the US. Where some six million of us live. I don’t live in Israel…but I’ve been there a few times and I don’t know any Israelis who call it Pogromnacht. Frankly, I still can’t understand why there is a Jewish community in Germany, let alone one who thinks they can dictate anything to the other 19,850,000 Jews on the planet who don’t live in the place that tried to eradicate us.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Germans can call it whatever they like in German. In English we'll call it whatever we like it.

Such a trip that there's literal nazis in positions of power now who hate Jewish folk while supporting Israel's genocide of Palestinians

They hate brown people more than the jews

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Actually, it's more like they belong to a death cult that wants Israel to completely annex Palestine, so their lord and savior can come and kill all non-Christians. They hate brown people and Jews equally.

Imagine being a genocide supporting shithead. Why don't you give up your land for a Jewish state then? All infrastructure too. Go ahead. Don't want to? Ok, well let's just take it. Give it to them. And put you in this nice little walled settlement and not allow you to work and support your family. But we won't call it a ghetto. HEY HEY HEY! WHY ARE YOU SO ANGRY!?!? MAN, I DIDN'T KNOW YOU'RE SUCH AN ANTISEMITE!!! YOU RACIST!!!!!/s

2 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 6

Let's say that's true. Does this justify murdering and raping children in front of their parents? Because that's what Hamas did on October 7. Does this justify blowing up hand grenades in bomb shelters where families tried to hide from rockets fired at them indiscriminately? Does this justify cooking a baby in an oven while raping and then murdering her mother as she had to watch her child die? Does this justify murdering parents and then abducting their children?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 19

Raping and murdering children and parents has been disproven as false. Recycled Isis footage. All of what you just said is false and disproven. Even by Israeli papers. https://m.jpost.com/israel-news/article-772181

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah, so you are anti semitic and think you can hide it in anti Zionism. Here’s a hint; anti Zionism is valid criticism of Israel’s violence and policies. Antisemitism is taking a conversation about pogroms and using it to make a whataboutism to the violent government of Israel, and saying “stay out of this, your people caused this.”

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Welch ein ignoranter Schwachsinn ist dies? Und nein, ich werde nicht Englisch schreiben bei der Masse an verkappten, ignoranten Antisemitismus.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I may have made a mistake recognising the language. I assumed it was German, or Dutch, who were very pro nazi. So saying 'your people caused this' was directed at German and Dutch history during WW2. Also, being anti-israel and pro Palestine does not make me an anti-Semite. Palestinians, and Arabs in general, ARE Semites. So read a book please. Also, before you say the Dutch weren't nazis, yes they were. They helped round up the Jews gleefully. Their king was a card carrying nazi. 250,000 1/

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It's bizarre to me that you can read about this and then turn right around and say "well ok, but that was then, THIS TIME the genocidal hate group that wants to exterminate Jews are the good guys".

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 34

It's exceptionally antisemitic of you to see the crimes and genocide Israel is commiting and to immediately think "those Jews". Israel is the criminal here.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I think it's pretty clear Hamas is a hate group.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

And which group is that? The ones living in Jewish run ghettos for 75+ years? No serious party in this is calling for the extermination of the Jews. They're asking for the original plan of 2 states. Independent Palestine. Independent Israel. Because Palestinians have been there for 2500 years, at least. It may not be as long as the Jews claim to the land, but it still counts. And when this all started (after WW1 and 2) there were millions of palestinians to thousands of Jews. So why was it 1/

2 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 5

You are factually wrong. 1.Apartheid is a specific term for the racist system that was in South Africa at the time. 2.There are over 2 million Arabs who live in Israel that enjoy their fully rights as equal citizens of Israel - so not Apartheid like either. 3.Gaza and the west bank were occupied by Jorden and Egypt until 1967 = not 75 years, please learn addition. 4.PLEASE DON'T LIE, Hamas never even once said it wants to live in peace with the Jews or have anything close to a 2 state solution

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

5. Palestinians couldn't have been living there for 2500+ years, because 2500 years ago, Jews and Israelites lived there. PLUS the term Palestine was only coined by the Romans when they conquered the jews... 6. The reason there were so few Jews at the time was because AGAIN, THEY WERE KICKED OUT BY THE ROMANS. I would highly suggest you brush up on your history...

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Given to the Jews? Why were their farms and villages seized and bulldozed for them to take it? It wasn't them that took it. It was the Ottomans. The Romans. The Greeks. The British. The Persians. The Babylonians. Etc. Why are you ok with colonialism, apartheid and genocide now?

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 3

It was not "given" to the Jews - they always lived there. Countless Jewish villages and towns were also murdered and displaced, but they resettled instead of playing the continuous victimization game

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

The Jewish people weren't the only ones there though. Ever. That's the issue.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

And the same group that "gave" Israel to the Jews (the UN) also "gave" a state to the Palestinian Arabs (1947 partition plan), but the Arabs rejected it because they decided they'd rather kill all the Jews than have a state.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

It isn’t colonialism for an indigenous people to return to their land. If native Americans razed Washington DC and resettled it it would be very violent, but not colonial. I understand it’s easy to look at this through the colonial lenses but unfortunately that lens does not work for this conflict.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

Jews weren't the first people there though. There were peoples before them. Like the Canaanites. Phoenicians. And Like the Assyrians. So it'd be ok for what is now Syria to come in and destroy all the Jewish settlements? And also, it wasn't the Palestinians that kicked conquered the Jews. Your argument is very flawed.
