Wow its almost as if the series is wrapping up and theyre running out of story threads and characters
brickyphone
To be fair to them, would you have wanted another series where the northern threat does nothing?
MotorsportJunkie
How else was that shit show going to end?

John mulaney approves of not knowing how to pace out letters
Primotimewaster
HBO decided to squeeze more profit from the GoT cash cow & go cheap with their budget. Forcing the show into fewer episodes. Ridiculous
DXAshram
Uh, wha? The showrunners wanted 7 seasons initially, and HBO wanted longer to milk it.

Always nice to get the 10th grade perspective, thanks!
You must think youre so smart dont you?
Nope, I'm just a poor sheep. BAAAAHHHH!
salokindoc
I thought it was a great series. Can't believe we have to wait so long for gone next season
Grandmastersexy
I'll take the extra wait if I get a full 10 well written episodes as aposed to 7 rushed episodes with numerous plot wholes.
WasITheNewDoctor
How long do we have to wait?

Dude, read wheel of Time by Robert Ludlum. That rollercoaster will give you whiplash

Oh shit! you are 100% correct. My bad. head is lodged in my ass once again.

I have the first book and found it difficult to get into. Im a big fan of high fantasy though. Is it worth trying again?
MrAskani
I kept falling asleep in it. It took about 5 or 6 chapters to get going.
beergolem
They just don't click for some, even if they are avid readers and love fantasy. Others adore them.
perey
Well put. Absolutely spot on.
Diyakinos
Some felt that Brandon Sanderson finished it well after Robert Jordan died, but I haven't read them. Sanderson's books are awesome though
So I can attest that he is a fantastic author. Highly recommend Mistborn and Stormlight Archives if you want another series to dive into /2
First 3 great. After that, Every other is good/(fuck me why am I reading this). Then he died and the story is left to suck.
TBH, I don't read much anymore because of him and his this series. It's a great story poorly told. best I can say for it.
Thanks for your opinion. I was thinking about reading this series, but now I'm not so sure.
LadyWidebottom
I didn't notice any pacing issues at all until a friend complained to me about it. I didn't have any issues with the ending, but it depends
GrimmTurd
It's not bad and worth it. I found it hard about middle of the series, but it picks up in the latter 1/3 well. Sanderson finishes strong.
Also, I started in the 90s but quit halfway through. Restarted with the audio books, which was easier to listen to than read.
assturtle
The books are like that, too. Tens of chapters of introductions to characters then they all die. Next book is tens of chapters of new intros
Sounds like Wheel of Time, and almost every other book series I've ever read.
hizenflay
Well Jordan did die.
I am aware of that. But even if he had finished the series himself, it'd be the same. Jordan thought his plot outline could have been done
in one book, Sanderson stretched it out to three. Imagine what it would have been like if Jordan had finished it.
Mobileuserwholikestoberandom
Series of Unfortunate Events, sorta.
I think most book series do it. Like the author is enjoying pacing themselves and writing the story, and then they realise they have to
finish it in one book, then they shit themselves and it's a mad scramble to get it done. Like me, when I have to write an essay.
ColonelColon
Nah. No one actually important ever dies through plot armor. Malazan Book of the Fallen comes closer, though it wins in wholesale slaughter.
I've heard good things about that one, but don't think I'll ever read it.
Great series but sad. In a good way, but still sad.
Wastyvez
Nah ASOIF starts slow, speeds up in Clash, peaks in Swords and then slows down again in AFFC/ADWD in preparation for Winds of Winter.
WubbaLubbaDubbDub
Peaks in swords my ass lol I'm halfway through and it's the slowest one yet.
lama00
You are saying the same thing differently.
motorwaffle
Personally I thought ADWD was painful in any non-Tyrion chapter until the very end.
RoseTheSpecialEdTeacher
I couldn't even finish it. Got bored. Last I remember Was one of the Northern guys wanted Davos to dave his son ot something. Been a while.
Promethianfire
Better than some HBO series, like Deadwood, whose pacing got progressively slower and then... nope, not gonna bother ending it.
8bitin4k
They got me reading, so job well done HBO.
wolfbennetttt
I couldn't agree more.

You should watch Helix it's progression is stupid fast
