Even so, it's a good requirement. If schools have to cut some electives to make sure kids are financially literate, that's ok.

I excelled at math. When I got out of college, I was completely fucked financially. My credit didn't get above 600 until I was almost 30.

Depends what sort of finances it covers. Many financial instruments are dependent on worldly things outside the realms of pure math.
