It's really hard not to accidentally tap those stupid game app ads

Which is it? "The only", or "one of the few"? Because "one of the only" isn't a thing, other than an attempt, but not success, at English.

Everything in 616 is cannon; at least until it's retconned.

So is Jarvis in the comics now a computer and not a flesh and blood person? Also, WHY is Deadpool an Avenger?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Could someone with more comic book film knowledge explain me if it's possible that Reynolds' Deadpool would appear in an Avengers film? >

9 years ago | Likes 1386 Dislikes 15

Short answer: no

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Canonically feasible; corporately improbable.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I've understood there are different studios involved with x men films and other marvel films.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Well Marvel somehow got Spiderman back, and I'm sure Ryan would vouch for it, and he's the reason the film got made in the first place

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The only way it would be possible is if Fox and Disney worked out a "shared custody" arrangement like Sony did with Spider-Man.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

It's possible if Fox fucks up with deadpool and the X-Men as hard as Sony did with Spider-Man.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Isn't Hulk technically Universal, as well? He's used by permission, IIRC.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Rights were sold back after Ang Lee Hulk

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I thought Marvel still doesn't have the rights to make solo-Hulk movies :o Also some parts of Namor's rights have been coming back to Marvel

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think the deal made stated that if a Hulk solo film is made, Universal has distribution rights. As Disney isn't a fan of letting (1/2)

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Nope

Recently Fox and Marvel has been playing nice but so far Deadpool will show up in a DC movie first.

Why do you care, just read the comics.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

I like the idea that the junkyard at the end of Deadpool was meant to be a thinly veiled S.H.I.E.L.D helicarrier wreck.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Deadpool is Fox, Avengers is Marvel Studios. They have worked together, and there is precedent in Spidey(Sony), but little incentive.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Deadpool is very successful, and the Avengers don't suffer from 'we can;t tell this story without x'. Only think coming to mind is Wolverine

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hugh Jackman said he would return as Wolverine for an Avengers film. That might the the only reason why, and it's a damn long shot.

So I'm guessing no way before Deadpool films become commercially unsuccessful.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

hes a parody character, so tbh i really don't think he should mess with the main cannon of any serious series

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

1. "canon" 2. You have clearly not read this, but need to: https://comicstore.marvel.com/Deadpool-2015-20/digital-comic/42904

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sony made a deal to get Spiderman into the MCU, but Fox owns Deadpool w/ the X-Men rights and have their own successful cinematic universe.>

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I find it unlikely for them to share Deadpool considering his success, but no one saw the Spiderman thing coming either. >>

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

After the travesty of Amazing Spider-Man... I'm just waiting for Fantastic Four to revert, so Spidey can sling with them.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There are significant differences between the two since Spiderman wasn't doing nearly as well as the recent X-men/Wolverine/DP movies.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have no knowledge of comics or the rights held by the filmmakers, but I'd say no because they want the Avengers PG-13 for more viewers/$$

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

To add to what other people have said. FOX owns anything "mutant" related. That would include X-men associated characters like deadpool. 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Recently, in the comics, there was a mutant purge and an "inhuman" influx (inhumans are like mutants, but not). Many people believe that 2/3

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

3/3 The reason the comics did that was to phase out a lot of mutants and get some characters back, like quicksilver and Scarlet witch

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I always thought Jack Kirby's Inhumans were fundamentally more interesting, anyway, so I've been happy with this development.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fox's rights to mutants also extends to future stories with them. Downplaying them makes it so that Fox has less to work with, eventually.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's not plausible. It'd require Deadpool to flop hard enough that Fox didn't want him anymore but be popular enough for Marvel to use him.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

How hard do the FF need to flop, man? :(

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Depends if Marvel want to take it back on. They've got a huge lineup of movies atm, so until they've got time to do FF they're not gonna pay

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They ALSO need to be popular enough for Marvel to fight to get them back.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Marvel doesn't get mutants in their movies... hence why Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver were "Experiments" instead of Magnito's kids

9 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 3

Deadpool isn't a mutant, he has (healing-)cancer

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

He's a Mutate- someone physically altered or empowered after birth, but the post above is referring to how he's so closely tied to mutants.

When Marvel Comics was in danger of bankruptcy in the 1990s, they sold off movie rights to many of their characters to stay afloat. (1/?)

9 years ago | Likes 956 Dislikes 7

And Marvel and its fans have been bitter ever since.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You explain the situation exceedingly well.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

So SONY got Spider-Man, FOX got X-Men and Fantastic Four, Universal Got the Hulk, et cetera. They've retained these rights since then. (2/?)

9 years ago | Likes 855 Dislikes 3

Which is went marvel can't make planet hulk solo movie

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

SONY and Disney came to an understanding regarding Spider-Man, obviously, though. I don't know who owns Deadpool, but it's possible.

9 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Deadpool was a fox thing I think. Being a mutant and all

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Deadpool isn't a mutant per se, he just got fucked around with by Weapon X.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Can you imagine if someone ended up with just the fantastic four? lol

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fox has Fantastic Four I though, I had heard those rights went back to Marvel

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

it's why they keep releasing the shit ass movies for F4. If they go to long without one, rights revert.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Ahh, you are right. The article I read said they may give the rights back, not that they had. That's what I get for not paying attention.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

More importantly, FOX didn't just get the "X-men" they got the rights to "mutants", which is why Scarlet Witch is an "experiment"

That story arc where the twins went to Counter-Earth didn't clarify SHIT. At least "The Secret Origin of Tony Stark" left no room for doubt.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And to further muck around, they agreed to kill one twin in MCU, and the other in Fox's X-films, rather than have two versions of each.

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Given Fox's ability to make money with their films, and their sour relationship with Disney/Marvel, they're unlikely to let the rights (3/?)

9 years ago | Likes 744 Dislikes 3

revert back. Deadpool being an X-Men associated character, he will likely never show up in an MCU movie. Not for years, anyway. (4/?)

9 years ago | Likes 724 Dislikes 6

Couldn't they just pull a quicksilver/scarlet witch and explain away his powers to fit their universe.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Besides, Reynolds' version of the character is especially crass and R-rated, which doesn't really suit the MCU. (5/5. It was 5.)
