The strongest knot you can tie is the one that no one can get undone

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think that’s a noose

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How dare you people favourite but not upvote!

I'm very concerned about the amount of favorites this post is getting.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can't tie knots, tie lots.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

this is an improvement on the one I've been using. thanks!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I do love a good fave & forget! +1

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm a polymer man but I'll give it a tty

7 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 2

My exact thought

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

U use too much leader tho

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Palomar baby!!

7 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

You can make a loop with a palomar?

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Title should say "*in fishing". Double figure 8 all day every day if you want the best.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why do you cut off the loop after tying it?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Um, is that a noose?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Need to use this at work this week for what I'm repairing. This is going to work great. Thanks @OP!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

read "preparing" instead of "repairing", sounded really ominous XD

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I mean, it works either way. >:D

Title is suspect. If it were the case, why would we use figure 8 knots for climbing?

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Because you haven't learned the Yosemite bowline... And this is for single strand fishing line

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

By the look of it it would be horrible to untie after loading- and it wouldn't be very efficient to re-tieloads of times. Oh and this knot-

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Is shit if you tie it in climbing rope

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Good things it's obviously a knot for fishing line then

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

...duh, I was explaining why it's not used for climbing.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think cutting the loop at the end defeats the whole purpose.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The palomar knot is far superior. More line through the hook eye.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You got an image?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Good looks. I needed to save this again cuz it's fishing season and I can never remember this for some reason.

7 years ago | Likes 162 Dislikes 3

use a no-knot system. simple, quick and hella strong

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I just make a bundle of random knots. Has never failed

7 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

Same here. It helps that I never get anything on the line though.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Same, somehow bowline is the only knot i never forget

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

All about that San Diego jam knot

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Polimar or improved clinch is the way to go.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also known as the Rapala knot

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just use the palomar knot it's super easy and strong

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Palomar is awesome in fresh water and smaller fish in general. It's one of the weaker knots overall. Uni is much stronger and still easy

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Whilr true that uni is stronger the palomar knot is 75-85% of line test

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

all of those numbers are nonsense because it depends on how well it was tied. Line friction while tightening is the problem. Moisten palomar

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well when comparing knot strength one would assume both are tied to perfection not one tied by a master angler and the other by No hands bob

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What’s the water drop for?

7 years ago | Likes 81 Dislikes 4

Lick it

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You wet it so there is less friction when you tighten it

7 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 0

I heard nylon fishing line can weaken if it gets hot from friction when tying a knot.

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I have a fiber fishing line, and I once did the knot without water. Knot snapped after 2 casts, at least I learned my lesson.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's the stage where any nearby women get wet due to your knot tying skills

7 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

Flourcarbon lines are weakened quite easily by friction and heat so lube up

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

if youre fishing with flour carbon its gonna be hard to reel

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Thanks dad

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's jizz

7 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 12

If fishing line isn't wet when tying you could cause friction burns and it weakens the strength of the knot.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You wet it so the knot pulls tight easily

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Getting the line wet in fishing at least will make the knot tighten up with ease

7 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 2

It also lubricates it. Less stress and friction helps keep the line strong.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I'll stick to Palomar knot

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I got no problem with me loop knots, it's me braid to flouro knots I need help with. I think I tie the slim beauty properly, any 1 tie f.g?

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Love the FG but will use a 6 turn surgeon if in a rush.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I can tie a slim beauty pretty well now too. But haven't attempted an FG... youtube is the go

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Use an Albright knot. There's a few good apps with different knots

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

FG knot works well for me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQmUN0L4F6c

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would recomend copolymer or fluorocoated mono line instead of fluoro for leader too, easy to tie knots with

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank you that looks relatively straight forward

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Alberto knot is a version of the albright that works with braid.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Can't tell if Irish or pirate

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Strayan

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Braid to fluoro I like a back to back uni knot if fluoro is 20lbs or less. If heavier use an Albright knot.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I used to tie back 2 back uni, but I reckon that ball of knot going through the guides again and again eventually fails.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've been tying slim beauty but I hear fg is better for heavier tackle. Going barra fishing later this year....

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Does this work as a noose for humans?

7 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 4

Yes, but only once

7 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

It's not a slip knot so no...
