That world never really existed and we’ve just been lying to ourselves. Well, they were lying to us that consequences existed because if they were honest, we’d demand change. But it turns out, only some of us will demand change and fewer still will do what it takes to get it.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why not just want to live in a world where that just doesn’t happen in the first place?

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Having consequences for it is the first step to getting to where it doesn't happen.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Call me dreamer but I’d like to live in a world where those don’t exist

So much for the tolerant left /S

The system is set up so there's no consequences. Working as intended.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And DJT is guilty on all counts.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

*NEGATIVE consequences. They're all reaping consequences, just not negative ones.

1 month ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Exactly!

What kind of anti semitic talk is that?

1 month ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

The wealthy and powerful have always used their wealth and power to avoid consequences. Some more successfully than others. At times, governments have worked to constrain and hold them to account often followed by periods of social and economic prosperity but they keep clawing back that control so we must be vigilant

It's like fighting a knife barehanded with the intention of not harming your opponent permanently, you can dodge, disarm, and parry again, and again, and again, a thousand times you can be absolutely perfect in your defense, but they just need to get lucky ONCE. Same with Law and Consequences, we NEED people in power 100% that hold them accountable, that don't let them get away with things, who don't get BRIBED to allow it. We need it over and over and over and over... But the MOMENT There's 1/?

an opening to exploit, they corrode the foundation, they eliminate policies and protections put in place defended a hundred times. All because, we're not willing to put down the person with the Knife.... Why? For the same reason, the moment you demand someone with a Knife needs to be ended.... Certain people start finding excuses to claim 'someone had a knife', 'Black person had a knife', 'Person who disagrees with me had a knife'. It's nigh impossible to have it perfect cause the solution 2/?

to one problem tends to be something that will be EAGERLY exploited by someone on the other side of the Solution. :( 3/3

Maybe you are crazy, or Trump is an unconvicted pedophile and will soon be jailed.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

at least give them a thumbs down! but the GOP giving 5 yelp stars tells you something

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean, if you want to be blackly, nihilistically ironic, no consequences was the course for most of human history. Or at least no DIRECT consequences. Are consequences us evolving, or an aberration? The only real answer ATM is 'stay tuned'.

It ain't happening untill we collectively make it happen.

The US and allies winning WW2 was good and necessary. Unfortunately, it gave them free reign to do whatever they fucking want

Sorry but the second you said "femicide" you stood up on an isolationist soap box and made it about yourself instead of others. Genocide bad. You got me 100% agree. Child rape also bad. but the second you made special note to seperate murder being okay but female exluisive murder bad you are sending the wrong fucking message and making this about you and not about the problem as whole. Fuck off. Murder should have consequences full stop. Rape should have consequecnes for the attacker. Full stop.

There's all sorts of words like that for specific types of murder, you've probably heard of "patricide" a lot because sometimes it matters to differentiate murdering a specific type of person from murder in general.

Femicide as a concept separate from homicide in general is a nice single word to differentiate it when the difference matters. Like in this topic where homicide in general usually does have consequences but murdering women doesn't as often.

Women who turn down a guy at a bar can end up in parts scattered over the tri-state area. Femicide is absolutely a thing world-wide.

1 month ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

So is just plain murder. I won't argue that globally women are 2nd class citizens. That is a fact. But to draw the line at only women murders being the issue is my problem. All murders is my problem.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

Don't think about why these women are targeted for murder, just lump it all in to 'mrrdrr baaad'.

Most women on this planet have few rights, and being murdered without the good grace of justice being served is a fucking problem. So yes, Femicide is absolutely a fucking thing.

Think before typing.

That'd require a brain...

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Her issue is with the RESPONSE in particular to women being murdered, due to that exact second-class citizen issue you just acknowledged.

Apparently we were supposed to have learned after WW 2 to not repeat this shit.

The only lesson countries learned from WWII was: don't lose the war.

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No what everyone learned is that doing this to the population in another country is frowned upon, your own noone important cares (except Vietnam that one time). That's why Israel made sure Palestine wasn't recognised and isolated.

We don't talk enough of the fact that US organized the genocide of 3 million indonesian communists. That was between 1955 and 1965, only 10 years after the end of ww2.

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

We probably should have learned after the Civil War too, but it seems like once every human lifetime or so we need to go through some shit.

American eugenics was the inspiration for Nazi Germany, and you can make the argument that all the anti-nazi sentiment of America winning the war and being better and above such ideology was in itself propaganda just to save face. Every decade since WW2 America has been enabling war, genocide, rape in one fashion or another. It's what America is because it's never shown anything different.

"never again" was supposed to kick in a few decades back

WW 1. That was supposed to be the war to end all wars.
