Don't get me wrong, gun killing still is a problem here but it's generally very personal. A vendetta against someone, political killing, police and gang shootouts, drunk arseholes. etc.

These guys are everywhere in public spaces and people feel very comfortable with them. They're generally very nice and helpful.

They may not be mass shootings, but I just checked some stats that might be informative: the Phillipines only has a gun ownership rate of 3.6 per 100 citizens, putting it in the bottom 50% of gun ownership rates. Despite this, it is in the top 30% of firearm homicide rates per capita.
