Here we have an abused dog

Except the dog is fine.

A few weeks back, this video in its full length: http://imgur.com/gallery/11ziqKO went viral on imgur. It showed a dog being forcefully pushed into rapid water against its will just for a film, the community was angry, people swore off ever seeing the movie this scene is being filmed for!

One of our users aerien (http://imgur.com/user/aerien) shared a tumblr post questioning the outrage over the event and whether the dog was actually being mistreated: http://ectoimp.tumblr.com/post/156071868054/hillyosaurus-yowulf-this-has-to-go-viral.

While this post did raise a few alarm bells in some people's heads, it is still an uncredited tumblr post without references so the out rage continued.

Well we've had inquiries now into the incident, inquiries by organizations that don't explode in anger from 10 seconds clips, and you'll never guess what they've found. It turns out this footage is of two separate occasions, has been clipped together, was recorded 15 MONTHS AGO and only released now this close to the première (pretty suss).

The first time the dog goes into the water, when he's taken out (by the handler who never lets the dog go or feel alone) he's then brought out of the water and to a warming tent just in case.

But hey don't just trust me, I'm just another random imgur user look it up yourself. https://www.google.com.au/search?q=a+dog%27s+purpose+mistreatment&oq=a+dog%27s+purpose+mistreatment&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i64l3.729j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

It's fine to feel anger but stay calm folks, TMZ is many things but perhaps despite it being many things, it is probably not your friend.
