I somehow doubt they're printing the 'putin killer' labels for all their molotovs
isetprettygirlsonfire
While not ideal, a knotted rag jammed into the opening (tight like cork) will work if that's all you have to work with. Or a stick...
TheN8
I suspect these are kits - looks to be stuff inside the bottles. They're probably churning out labeled bottles with rags and loose caps.

I saw people in the news adding Styrofoam to make a rudimentary napalm when mixed with petrol or spirit..
Illpostcheese
Notice the knotted fabric inside the bottle.
SeeMyVests
Unless they somehow knotted that from inside, it’s not sealing the bottle. Small enough to go into the neck=leaving room for liquid 2 escape
Cloth having absorbed liquids are thicker than not.
TheDoctorAndHisTrustyTardis
plus any liquid that escapes through the little space between the cloth and bottle is probably not that much to make a difference anyway
historycat
The difference is flaming liquid on the thrower. In that case the prefered amount is none.

i did knot know it had to be knotted.

There's a risk of lit fuel spilling out on the thrower when made like that. Safer way is to cap bottles and tie rag around the neck

Make sure to add some styrofoam, it makes the fuel gelatinous and sticky.
mcshady
This doesn't work nearly as well as people think it does. You need like cubic feet of foam for a few oz of gas.
TransAtheistMinister
Aka, napalm
PantlessThunderGoose42
I thought it was gasoline, styrofoam and dish soap to make Napalm.
US troops in Fallujah used a laundry soap/ gas mixture. The ’classic recipe’ is 50\50 unleaded/diesel mixed with styrofoam and sand.

Tape melts, Einstein, you just set yourself on fire too!!!
russianaturi
How long are you holding a molotov after you light it?!

Hmmm, now i know. How do you know when you need to really stop holding kt?
so it doesn't ow out from breeze of throwing it
CinnamonBunny
This! Liquid on the inside. Lid closed. Igniter on the outside.

Don't forget to soak styrofoam into the liquid so you have a lovely napalm effect.
Or add tar or aluminium powder or...
Laundry detergent.
FaptainPicard
Igniter on the outside? I hardly know her on the outside
Igniter on the outside is my job!
rivershoulder
All seriousness, I think it’s nitric acid, easily attained, that ignites on contact with petrol. So wrap rag around sealed bottle, hurl.
pnutzgg
the soviets made a bottle during the war that had a smaller vial inside that did this
Always keep initiators and charges separate. Dip towel in acid, wrap bottle, wrap in plastic sack to avoid drying. Don’t drop.
Bottle breaks, liquids touch, ignition. No dangerous lighting and giving your position away. Could be picric acid too, been a while.
DarthAsshat
Fyi to make a proper Molotov tie the cloth to the neck of the bottle and have a stopper in it to prevent a big oops
The method here appears to be knot tied in rag, then shove knot in as stopper. Not ideal, but works in a pinch.
Heavenissize17socks
Bleach and Ammonia are heavier than air, too, to block a stairwell if they are clearing out the building below you.
Ah yes, potentially deadly gas, when mixed but will clean the fuck out of a bathtub nearly instantly. The smell is very irritating.

Chlorine gas also is an effective area denial. But I would imagine once chemical weapons on one side are used the other will as well.

Not a bad idea. Molotovs or playing with fire in general? Hopefully most people dont have to use molotovs, and that I would want them to
even just for making bad choices, dad once burnt his arm and eyebrows bad with petrol and a pile of leaves
Sorry to hear that. That is a good idea. There are safe and unsafe ways to play with fire.
And don't use straight petrol/gasoline. Mix oil in it so it burns slower and hotter. The oil wil also burn on the rag longer. Petrol 1/2
DracoDan
another backup option is gasoline/petrol and powdered laundry detergent (mix until thin paste)
That didn't really even work when William Powell wrote about it in the Anarchist Cookbook. The problem is that the petroleum has to be 1/2
heated with older laundry *soap*, not detergent. The fatty esters in the soap work similar to heavy oil on petroleum solvents to 2/3
thicken the mixture, but you have to heat the solvent (in this case, gasoline) to dissolve the soap. Laundry detergent as we know it 3/4
Or dissolve styrofoam in the gas, same effect.
SeriousCloud
Styrofoam and petrol in the bottle, kerosene or oil/petrol mix on the rag. Knot in the rag as a stopper.
Or just cap it when possible. Safer.
For sure if you can tie a rag/cord to the bottle. Pro tip: gas/kerosene dissolves tape. Tips only to be used in case of Russians
Added benefit of polystyrene being sticky. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoUb7jiFj5Q

As I understand, you don't want the incendiary liquid to meet the burning cloth or match until the bottle breaks, so it ignites on target.
Indeed, so you have to rely on the fuel in the exposed end of the rag to stay burning until the bottle lands and breaks. If the fuel is 1/2
too light or burns too fast, you risk it extinguishing or simply burning out mid-flight. 2/2
YourMomIsEverything
They're mixing grated styrofoam into it to make napalm.
Can you create the mix & pour it into bottles, or does it get too viscous that way, so you have to mix it inside the bottle itself?
It's like thin syrup, so it can be pre-mixed. It might just be easier for them to shove pre-cut pieces of styrofoam into the bottles, 1/2
What a strange time. I got suspended on here for calling 'Boe be rt' a bitch and saying she was the poster girl for the term "h8 1/2

creativenamesarehard
Vasoline is better than styrofoam
UncleBuckFutter

Might want to make sure that liquid actually dissolves polystyrene, though, and has a relatively high flash point. Acetone dissolves 1/2
polystyrene, but burns too fast and boils at too low a temperature to be effective in this defense weapon. 2/2
