This is one heavy bitch...
Spent 3 hours packing. Sold all my belongings. Leave in less than 48 hours. Travelling alone for 4.5 months. I'm visiting : Namibia, South Africa, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Australia. Any hints or tips, because now I'm panicking.

TheGnomiestGnome
Plan so far is j'berg and cape town. Friend recommended Durban. Still undecided
southafricannon
If you want bustle, do Joburg; if you want views, do CT. Durban is also pretty beautiful, but I'm a South coast native, so I'm biased.
reallysmoothcriminal
Pro Tip: Use condoms in that regions
TheGnomiestGnome
Pro tip? Hope that's not the voice of experience and a sensible warning. X

*cough..no comment...

When you get to Vietnam, depending on how much time you have ofc. you should buy a bike and ride the way down or up. the route is amazing!
ThatDudeNoOneReallyLikes
and the people in the rural areas are the friendliest of souls! also its pretty much just one road from bottom to top, so you cant get lost

terrytoad
You're taking your life in your own hands visiting some of those places. I mean Australia, really?
TheGnomiestGnome
My family emigrated from Aus to the UK. Have friends and family there. They've been winding me up about drop bears already!
GeorgeofJungle
-they are real , and the cane toads
TheGnomiestGnome
They had me for about three months until I had the sense to google it!
Kiliv
Always tell someone you know and trust where you are going / how long you expect to take, always be suspicious of free stuff, 1
Kiliv
Keep a photocopy of any important papers you have in a seperate bag or pocket, keep as little cash as possible take out what money you need
Kiliv
From atms or use card, take good care of you feet espeically if hiking good shoes are really important, always drink bottled water,
Kiliv
And have a first aid kit with blister plasters normal plasters pain killers, rehydration powders etc. And mostly have fun!
bagelwench
Store money in small various locations on your person and always assume water is unsafe until boiled
SaltyAnn
And if you get a drink always ask for no ice! More unsafe water.
TheGnomiestGnome
Didn't think about ice! Was the victim of Delhi belly in 2011 - DO NOT WANT
monglet
See if you can get your GP/family practice doctor to give you some ciprofloxacin to take if you do get the shits- will make them better fast
monglet
1/2 Also, if you're visiting those parts of the world, get a sterile med pack with IVs, needles etc as clinics etc won't often have that
monglet
2/2 sort of thing. https://www.lifesystems.co.uk/product/first-aid-kits/mini-sterile-first-aid-kit is a good one if you're UK based.
