Protect their military and civilians

Feb 25, 2022 3:06 PM

I understand people want to help and get the word out about how terrible this invasion is. If you want to help, get involved with charities. If you want to post, filter what you're posting. We've heard it from many people who went through the Syrian conflict. The opposing force can use locations that you post to their advantage. Every single thing we are witnessing right now should be training every other person in the world for this. Social media is very dangerous for war. Do not show the enemy where the Ukrainian military and civilians are.

This one time at band camp I felt bad for posting locations.

The government of Canada is matching all donations 100% to the Canadian Red Cross fund for Ukraine. www.redcross.ca. I gave $125.

If you post an original photo, take a screenshot of it and trim it down. Then use the snipped photo instead. No metadata.

Одеса! HAHAHA!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

No, I want to let the Russian Army know that there are Ukrainians here to bomb ?...

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I mean, how do you even do that?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The bamboozle is that Russia could benefit from spreading this concept to make it look like Ukraine isn't putting up a fight.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or post lots of fake locations so the Russians can't tell the real leaks from the noise.

4 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 1

Yeah I'm sure Russian military is scouring imgur looking for real vs fake locations in Ukraine.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

This is Imgur. Everything's just going to be a repost from 3 years ago anyway.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If you genuinely think anything posted to imgur is going to aide the Russian military you're a fucking idiot

OP just wants internet points and to feel like he's making a difference.

How could information posted in the past be tactically viable information? There are a dozen news agencies posting live updates.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also - there are now several links seeking donations for Ukrainians. Please double check where you're sending your $ - can be fake. Check-

Charity Navigator as your first stop.

post these guys location https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azov_Battalion

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Personally I'd prefer if they stopped posting about it period. I understand its a bad thing thats happening but this isnt why I use Imgur.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I think you can filter out #russia #ukraine #currentevents in your account settings

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't because I find Imgur much faster than our news outlets.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank you that made it so much better!

?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Meh. This us like the "don't post your key message". In theory yes. In practice no. Russia on day 1 took our Ukraines key military

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

The Ukrainian government wouldn't have asked if they didn't think it mattered. Do you know better than they do?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Installations. They have satellites and line of sight to everything Ukraine is doing. The same way the US had satellite and Intel on what

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Russia is doing. Quite certain the FSB isnt watching Imgur or Twitter for key Intel. We already know old videos have been posted as new here

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Dear Russia: you'll find large numbers of Ukrainian troops hiding out in Mar-A-Lago. And they have no anti-missiles! You're welcome.

We already have an agent there. -Russia

I've heard that Zelenskyy is hiding here:

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This isnt Syria mate. Russia has thousands of satellites and air superiority. They know everything going on in Ukraine at a precision of /

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 11

The Ukrainian government requested it. Anyone who thinks they know more than them can go ahead and argue.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

So claims random images on social media, but 95% of what you see here about Ukraine is fabrication or old footage from other conflicts.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

at least 50cm / pixel.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

They have fewer than 200 satellites, and only a fraction of them will ever pass over Ukraine. Nice try to deflect any accountability

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

At Ukraine's latitude, any earth observation satellite will pass over it several times a day.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

Firstly, no, there is no guarantee you will cover all ground multiple times in a day. There are huge reduced visibility and (1)

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

(2)outright blind spots between orbits. And it will only come closeish maybe 2-3 times in a 72 hour period. But you know what? Let’s assume

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

"blind spots between orbit" now has someone who got paid to write satellite imagery software that is nonsense.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

(3)I’m wrong. Each one of those satélites pass over 5 times over Ukraine daily. That’s still about 17 hours of monitoring. Still short

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There are potential large gaps of blind spots. They do not see everything that is happening at all times.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Not at all time, but everywhere yes. They should be able to get a refresh of any area several times per hour making trying to filter social/

"s noise a waste of time. Worse, this discourage people from exposing Russia's war crimes.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No one is saying don’t post anything. Just Ukrainian troop movements.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So post pictures of the russians?

4 years ago | Likes 303 Dislikes 3

Russian troop images and video yes, turn the gps settings on.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

yes. post pics of russian soldiers and their positions so they can be removed from Ukraine.

Or help grow the sun flowers.

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

No. Not all Russians support Putin or this pointless invasion. Many Russians are protesting this.

4 years ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 17

Picture of russian troops in Ukraine * ?

4 years ago | Likes 93 Dislikes 1

Correct

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Use good judgement? Just don't show places where civilians may be hiding. And be able to distinguish between Ukraine and Russian troops.

4 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 5

If they run over civilian vehicles in tanks, they're probably Russian

4 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

I thought that was a Ukrainian vehicle? Are you sure it was Russian?

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Usually, they're the ones with the Russian patches. Usually.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've heard - so take this with a gigantic grain of salt - that Russian troops have stolen Ukrainian military vehicles for their own actions-

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They mostly come out at night. Mostly.
