These look so pretty but my cats will chew most plants just because they're there. So i checked and Calathea Couture are dog, cat ,horse safe and non toxic. I've been looking for a new indoor plant so i'm looking for one of these now. TY OP

Calatheas are the most moody plants... however, this one is in wrong substrate and heavily underwatered, so it didn't have much of a chance to survive ... (but even in the best conditions, these plants are a challenge. Source: I have 50+)

For folks wanting some legit BRIGHT purple plants: strobilanthes dyeriana or Gynura aurantiaca. A few Tradescantia can be gorgeously purple, too, including Pallida; Zebrina can have some lovely purple stripes on other colors.

Dotties and Surprise Stars are probably the closest to the "look", but the plant above is neither of them. It is a heavily edited picture, apparently.

It might have saturation turned up, but the more bright light some plants get, the brighter and more intense the colors can become. This is also a more mature plant and I can't find any other examples of similar plants mature, but it might be a Calathea roseopicta 'surprise star' or 'princess jessy'

I've never heard of this species, and when I googled it, only this specific came up (for the pink version). Seems fishy. This is what a normal Calathea Couture looks like, apparently: (don't fall for edited photos, people. Etsy is full of them. Most of them are scams)

It does not, unfortunately. You can take cuttings and grow them inside in the winter though.

Extremely simple to propagate; cut a stem and stick it in damp soil. Or, place stem and leaf in a small vase of water.

Yep, killed one of those, it hated everything I did with it. A shame because it's such a pretty thing. I'm currently looking to get a Cephalotus, which I wouldn't call fuzzy, but it's definitely hairy. If you're into succulents grab a woolly rose, v fuzzy.

I think you are correct. Far back left 2 green leaves are "turning" purple. left, middle and right bottom all have green leaves.

That's how plants often grow, though. Green when young, colorful as they get older.

Not necessarily some pla ts have that habit to color some leaves only under specific conditions.

While the picture is heavily oversaturated, plants and their leaves can have multiple colors and even change colors based on environment conditions. See: Trees in Autumn (or pretty much any colorful leafy plant as it grows)

It is an edited picture, the plant above doesn't exist. Some dodgy plant shops put plants in died water to create this effect, but the image above is just photoshop. If you want a similar looking plant, I recommend the roseoptica, the dottie or the surprise stars.

This is so obviously shopped that I wonder how you'd miss it. Also, when you google the plant name, this is the only image that comes up for this pink variety, every other plant under this name looks very different. It is a very common scam to sell seeds or rhizomes for plants with doctored photos, because buyers will notice too late that it is not the same plant
