We produce tritium vials, tubes, spheres, etc. across a broad spectrum of colors for military applications, ranging from illumination for firearms night sights, weapons reticles, compass elements, instrument dials, and more.
All the vials shown are emitting at the same luminous intensity. Note, however, how the green appears brighter than the other colors. This is caused by the increased sensitivity that the retinae of human eyes have to the green wavelengths.
Update: the red and orange emissions are not from tritium, but plutonium**
Our partner company in the UK produces these tritium lamps. They are bright enough to give visible illumination in daylight conditions. The photo above is taken without black / UV light enhancement.
The illumination in low light is bright enough for reading maps.
** I made up the plutonium as the radiation source above. LOL. The luminescence is a result of photons released from a phosphor layer coating the inside of the containers of tritium gas. The phosphor compounds determine the color of the luminescence.
