Retail woes.

Let me clarify- it's not just the "I hate you and I want you to go away" feeling with some of these customers, who go out of their way to lie about me, belittle me, swear and scream at me. It's evolving into a more refined hatred, one that prays to whatever deity is listening that these poster children for abortion will drown in a manure lagoon or something equally horrible.

I do not consider myself a nice person. The childhood I had and experiences with people I have had do not give me a pleasant picture of humanity in general. Yet I find a lack of reasons to berate and attack people who are trying to do their job and can't always pull what I want out of their backside. This is only partly due to understanding what they're going through, it's mostly pragmatism- I've found I get much better service when I treat people like... people, and not child molesting puppy-kickers when I can't get immediate satisfaction.

Customers will throw screaming, stomping tantrums about us not having something in stock, and on a few rare moments of clarity, I'll wonder why these wastes of oxygen get so angry about a minor inconvenience, then take it out on me, a cashier. Most of the time, however, it's just one more tally mark on why I hate most people.

I'm going to guess nearly all of you on here have encountered the above kind of person, given the generally nice attitudes I see. I just need to vent, because somehow, along the way, it was decided that we forfeited the right to call out people on abusive behavior just because we're wearing a name tag in the hopes they'll continue to throw a few dollars our bosses' way.

Footnote: I should note that the customers who bring in dogs are 99% of the time really great people. We're not supposed to let non-service dogs in, but unlike our customers, dogs don't attack us unprovoked, and most are friendly and make the hate go away for a few minutes.

"let me clarify -" no need, im 100% with you already. As shitty as McD was, night shift was pretty alright when we were properly staffed.
