Background: So this is a paraphrasing of an amazing youtuber called VaatiVidya. Great voice, and knows the lore well so if you want a soothing listening experience I recommend checking him out.

Recently I saw a comic about Sif and put in the comments about Sif's backstory and someone messaged me saying I should make a post so here it is!

The abyss has broken free and Lord Gwyn has tasked Artorias with holding it back and to rescue Princess Dusk while he sacrifices his soul to kindle the first flame; a suicide mission. Sif is Artoria's The Abyss Walker's partner and is still a juvenile, and together, they go to challenge the looming darkness. They fail. Artorias' left arm is broken and he can no longer hold up his shield and he is swallowed by the abyss. Before it consumes him, he uses his great shields power to protect Sif in a magical barrier.

(This is the normal story/cutscene in game)

Sif keeps the Abyss Walker ring that once belonged to Artorias, knowing that it is the only way to walk the darkness. Its power is what led his friend to be defeated, become corrupted, and then maddened. He fights to prevent anyone from suffering the same fate.

(If you do the DLC first, and THEN fight Sif, this next path occurs)

Time is convoluted in Lordran. The Chosen Undead defeated the corrupted Artorias and saved Sif, who was allowed to take the Abyss Walker ring and guard it, hoping to prevent anyone from trying to use its power. Years later the same Undead who saved him comes back to take the ring and use it. He feels great remorse, for he does not wish to see someone that saved him, someone he cares for go made much like his old friend. The Undead tries to comfort him, but Sif knows, only one of you can leave.

If anyone wants me to do more summaries lemme know. I know other people have, but this is just my take on it and I know not everyone has seen them all.
