There were cars with computer-controlled engines in 1983. Nowhere near as complex as now, and a pain when they broke, but they existed.

Main design failure there is the lack of an ash tray. Car ashtrays were great, useful to smokers and non smokers... Sweet storage

TBH, electric windows are crap in winter. At least with that crank you can open frozen windows just by turning them back and forth a while.

When I was a kid one of the neighbor kids attempted this in his dads new truck. It was in the mid 80s, his father was not too impressed.
