How batteries have improved
Occasionally I see someone complaining how batteries have barely improved. Recently I found an old camcorder battery from the early 90s in my basement. I decided to compare the weight and power output of this battery against my phone's battery and an external battery pack I have, to see how batteries improved over the past 20 years. Turns out my phone's tiny battery would weigh nearly a pound, or around 11 times as much, using this 20 year old battery.
Still no idea if it's any cheaper though, since I don't know how much that camcorder's battery would have cost back in the day.

Also some interesting numbers: that tiny battery on the left holds 80% of the energy of the battery on the right, but only weighs 7% as much

TIL phone batteries weigh 25 kilos, and camcorder batteries weight almost half a metric ton.
