One of the primary reasons people root is to get rid of all the crap that manufacturers and carriers install on the phone. Nexus phones(1/?)

I believe its similar to jailbreaking, in that it allows the user to gain access to more of the device than what the programmer intended.

I've been using a rooted droid since I got the damn thing. And these are all pretty legit. But they are all situational. Rooted is a must.

Also, a rooted droid with Adaway blocks pretty much all Ads, in chrome/firefox/whatever, even in apps themselves, as it's a hostfile.
