Maybe fantasy and historical fiction, sci fi can be more of a cautionary tale. Like 1984, do we literally have a ministry of truth? Technically the government isn’t the one that owns the 3 news media companies but the owners lobby and influence the congress and SCOTUS to the degree that they might as well be said to “own” aspects of the government especially regulation of their industries. Look at how they cover the genocide in Gaza, that’s real deal ministry of truth right there.
