Anyway, posted for the purpose of memery.

Fun fact: Nearly every Oglaf strip has *TWO* extra texts in the image properties, not just one, the second one for this strip is "In which God fights his own battles"

How can one start at the beginning?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think the Cumsprite series was the first.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

go to oglaf.com, scroll to the bottom of the archive, start reading from there. I'm not a fan of cumsprite arc but you may enjoy them.

Y'know what, I'd actually like God more if everyone just acknowledged that he was completely petty like that. The Greek gods are so much more fun to think about because of their very humanlike flaws.

It took me ages to figure out that God was shouting "blasphemy" with a long "i:" sound at the end, and not a strange variant of "blaspheme" with an elongated silent "e". Sometimes I'm dumb. Or just not nativespeakery enough.

Oglaf is written by a she? But it's so depraved.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I think so; I’ll have to check.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Its a duo, technically gender and names arent mentioned (often) but you can see 2 names on their Patreon and based on those names its a common theory that its 2 specific people, a girl and a boy. https://www.patreon.com/oglaf

You sayin' girls can't be depraved and horny? Clearly you've never visited Tumblr or Fanfiction.net

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Hell, I know hornier girls than I do guys.

....why is this making me remember Black & White game....I swear I was a good god to the people...totally...

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I can see the legs of your temple curling up into spikes man.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Interestingly, the way to be a good god in that game was to ignore your people.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I always ran into the issue of growing until I had everything I needed in my town and then ignoring it, which unfortunately meant I had adults in houses with no room for children and no more houses, so by the time the elderly died the population was past children-age, ending with ghost towns just in time to move to the next island.

Oh shit! Rich peoples’ yacht money!

2 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 2

We actually need rich people to have yacht money.

If they can't afford a yacht how are the orcas supposed to kill them for us?

I keep having daydreams of aliens showing up and just dusting all the evil people and then to the rest: "here's infinite energy, be awesome to each other or we'll be back"

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm happy people still calling it that! And good morning (not that we know each other, I'm just in a happy mood and don't know why)

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Not that I'm complaining, I mean holy shit it's been years

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Is the banana part really in there? I know the mixed fabric part is real

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I don't think so. But there are a lot of other nonsense dictations anyway largely from Leviticus. If you're looking for a fruit related no no "Eating Fruit from a tree within four years of planting it" is a "you're not allowed".

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I don't think bananas were popular enough outside of the tropics at the time it was written

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The Arabs didn't start spreading it until the 12th century AD. Bananas also looked vastly different originally. The modern banana and plantain are examples of human-driven evolution. So if Evangelicals like Ray Comfort try to sell you that bananas are an example of divine creation, just know they are severely wrong.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I always thought this was a dig at Ray Comfort.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I think they put one Christianity thing one silly thing. It would actually be impressive if they did have bananas in the Bible, because you would have to wonder how they even found bananas.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Monkeys open bananas on the short end. Also, they strip off those stringy bits. Truly our cousins are onto something.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's just a spoof/joke take on it. It's not meant to be a 1:1

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

No. They didn't know what a banana was in the Mid-East in the bronze age. But there were some pretty strange rules for sure.

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Bananas were native to New Guinea iirc, so at the time the Old Testament was written probably the Hindus and the Chinese had encountered them but not much beyond that. MAYBE the Persians

How exactly is the oglaf archive a mess? it's literally in chronological order. Oh no, I have to scroll down!

2 years ago | Likes 131 Dislikes 9

It might actually be the best archive I’ve seen.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 7

You need to see some better archival practices then. Tags for search would be better.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I wouldn't say it's a mess, but it's also not very well-suited to searching for one you remember.

2 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but if you don’t know exactly when it was posted, and you want to search by keyword, you can’t. You can only keep digging.

2 years ago | Likes 95 Dislikes 9

This hole is not exactly a 'rabbit hole' but keep trying.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 5

It's not bad but it's also kinda confusing

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Also, everything is undated. Even if you know the exact date a comic was posted, it doesn't help you. You have no idea from the page if a comic is from 2022 or 2012. It wasn't too bad when the archives were smaller, but it's been running for 16 years now. Even at like only 50 strips a year, that adds up.
