Setting in a sleeve by hand!

This is by far the trickiest process to master as a tailor. It is also one of the last processes to learn as a student of Tailoring because of total understanding of why jackets feel comfortable and how they should fit.

A sleeve is typically 2 3/4" larger than the "armscye" (arm's eye... Or armhole) so the sleeve must be pushed forward when stitched to ease in the fullness.

It is basted by hand once, then again putting the stitches between the original ones. Pressed, then stitched by machine or very small lockstitches by hand.
