I wish I could help, but I haven't used Windows in years. I changed to Linux Ubuntu a while ago and haven't looked back. Googling the problem or checking if someone on reddit has posted a solution would be my go to. Good luck

Seems to be off by default for me. Mind you, I uninstalled copilot immediately and am using an Office 2021. And am also in Europe, so defaults might be different for legal reasons.

Yeah, E.U. doesn't tolerate this kind of shit. My money is that the default is intentionally different for Europe (E.U. Europe anyway). Pretty sure the "7 levels deep" just to disable the setting would violate some law.

My new computer had this crap. I ended up uninstalling it and loading Office 2010. Problem solved (for me, at least ). I found the general functionality of the new Word is about 20 steps backward from older versions.

Very true! Except for the class action part. Arbitration clauses routinely include class action waivers, and SCOTUS has been VERY aggressive about finding excuses to uphold the principle of those. So it'll most like be individual arbitration... unless the company would benefit from "consolidating" individual actions, which it will often retain the right to do. So basically the only thing you can be sure of is that the private "courts" will rule in favor of their regular clients.

I wouldn't call what modern AI does as inspiration. And we teach that plagiarism is wrong even to the youngest of students. Usually we just sternly talk to them if caught plagiarizing, but then most students aren't multi billion dollar corporations.
But it goes beyond that. Would you let "young minds" read your diary or journal if you have one? What about lists of important passwords? Or your ID info and SSN.
What you write on word is supposed to be private, unless *you* publish it.

I've used OpenOffice for a while now - I use it maybe once a year to poke my resume, so a subscription to MSOffice isn't worth it by any stretch of imagination - is LibreOffice enough of a step up to bother with?

I had that problem a few years ago too, but it's a lot better. I think the "extra laggy" times were related to graphics drivers.

I've been a user since the 90s (back then it was still called Star Office) and never experienced anything like this... Must be an incompatibility with something on your PC... Maybe it's trying to use GPU acceleration and something is off with your drivers? (There's a checkbox in the setting that lets you disable GPU accel.)

The only reason they would do that is to make the tv obsolete in an attempt to make me buy a new one. Never again. Now I just use computer monitor.
