Sorry for being a few days late but they have in fact not bought it yet. Judge stopped the purchase because apparently there were shenanigans with the original auction and higher bidders were ignored. Allegedly one of the higher bidders wanted to gift it back to Alex Jones but that is purely rumour.

That is my biggest concern. I completely disagree with making it an alt-right satire site since it'll just fuel the disinformation. They need to make it an anti-misinformation site where they post all the alt-right bullshit and then rip it to shreds using logic and reason. Not that much of the alt-right could understand, but at least it'll be fun for the rest of us.

Believe me, as gullible and oblivious as his followers are to the truth, they could've easily played if off as misinformation. "No, we have not been sold to The Onion - we will continue to bring you the truth." Whatever it says when they type 'infowars.com' into their browser (or more likely, into DuckDuckGo or Brave Search because they don't know how to actually USE the internet) would be gospel truth, unquestioned. The Onion could really trick them.
