They don't have to hack Hegseth's Signal Group account, he invites them to read chats in real time.

Consodering Signal uses an encryption method approved by the US, I'd say that all flowed in the other direction.

Trump and Tulsi are on speed dial with Putin, Musk with Xil it”s happening in broad daylight.

Is not “war plans”, is “special military operation outline” - ok, da?

I wonder if they could just plant a phone with a virus designed to take control of Russian software when the phone gets found and hooked up to their network?

They did it with printers in the first Iraq war

What a surprise: Using a Russian hacked system for communications.

Signal is not a Russian hacked system. It's neither Russian nor hacked, don't believe the propaganda. Found devices and phishing has nothing to do with Signal security, on the contrary, it's showing that there is no other way to compromise the system than somehow tricking the user to let you in.

I mean if the Kremlin has questions about US intelligence they can just ask Tulsi Gabbard

Why wouldnt they jst ask 45?

You think he has enough brain cells left to tell them anything useful?

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

so they don't have to hear his fucking voice

That’s a really good point.

Hegseth, Vance, Gabbard, Waltz, et al., have decided to return to discussing classified battle plans in War Thunder to avoid the scrutiny.

Waltz?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

National security adviser Michael Waltz, the guy who actually invited the journalist into the Signal circle jerk in the first place.

Mike Waltz. National Security Advisor (imagine, lol, fucking gimp). Not Tim Walz, all-around cool dude with big everyone's loveable dad vibes.

Gotcha, thanks.

This isn't hacking. It's them finding phones on the battlefield and adding another device to the account. So impressive.

Why hack? They'll just be added to the chat.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's propaganda to reduce signal users

1 year ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Yeah, it's more akin to finding radios of your opponent on the battlefield, with frequencies already programmed in.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

They would honestly be dumb to not do this

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Exactly. Zero hacking involved, unless you count simply getting into the device you just found as "hacking".

Tells you how secure it is.

And Ukrainians not terminating sessions on lost devices apparently.

How are y'all defining hacking? It doesn't always require skill. If someone gains physical access to a system and is able to view a password because it's logged in under admin... Thats hacking via social exploitations. Hacking takes many forms

1 year ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 2

Life hacks isn't a good analog

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

Right. A whole lot of hacking is just dumpster diving and social engineering. Encryption busting and vulnerability infiltration is a whole lot less common.

Or stuff like "Hi this is Pete from HR, just doing the annual password check. Can you tell me your user ID and current password so I can make sure its up to company standards? Uh huh... yeah... yeah... okay, looks like that all checks out. Thank you!" Next day "What do you mean someone downloaded all of our clients personal data?"

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's essentially what social engineering means, phishing falls under that category as well, but yup you're right.
