My favorite was the Burt Reynolds scene. I know it is a little creepy but the fact that they pitched this scene to him and he probably laughed his ass off and then agreed to it.
There were a lot of brilliant scenes in the movie. I can't believe I saw it when it was in movie theatres! We laughed so hard through most of the movie.

I got a bluray mel brooks collection, with 9 of his films, almost a decade and a half ago, just looked and I got it for $25, now I see it for sale for all kinds of crazy prices.
Mel Brooks helped produce THE ELEPHANT MAN, which Hurt starred in (Brooks even made sure he got no credit so nobody would miscontrue David Lynch's film as a comedy). Hurt then guest-starred in several Brooks films afterwards, best one was Spaceballs.
I've read some of the stories from behinds the scenes of The Elephant Man and it just makes the whole film more incredible. Mel was hard as nails with the execs funding the film. He showed them the final cut and made it clear that he was doing so as a courtesy and they would be accepting absolutely zero fucking notes from them. The man knows how to work the system in Hollywood.

For people who weren't around then: This scene was funnier because Paul Newman really raced cars, fairly successfully, when he wasn't acting.
