Mine publicly got up a customer who chucking coffee at me but once we were in the kitchen he told me to get over the fact I was burnt, then two days later fired me to leaving work early cause if said burns , I was 17 and didn't know my rights so I did nothing about it , only a month or two later he got caught burning his Cafe down for insurance
Its insane.. Here in Denmark, if a costumer did that, it would be assult. And the cafe or resturant wouldnt fricking hesitate to throw anyone behaving poorly out because we actually treat our staff like.. Hmm idk, employees? Its insane.. Dont let anyone tell you unions arent cool okay? They are how you get workers right, and damn they are needed :(

He told the waiters to refuse the shuttle service to them.

I called back to the dept and was told we don't carry it so I relayed this to customer and it eventually devolved into getting cursed at.
Before I knew it, the manager on duty was there and berated the customer for his behavior and lack of respect. They then walked down to the dept and it will surprise you but we didn't carry it.
I worked at wendy's and this dude rolled through drive-thru and had his dick out at a young female co-worker working the window (16- or 17 very innocent type). She ran off crying, i was on grill/line, she said what happened, and I told the manager I had this one. I burst through that window with the coldest soda full of ice i could grab, and i threw that shit at his dick. It shot back into his pants so fast... he threatened me but i a hot spatula in the other hand and dared him to fucking try it

Every Wendy's has this one oven for baked potatoes & cooking chili on top, and they have these metal lips that get stupid hot after running all day, and I'd use that area to keep my spatula's. He demanded to see the manager, you had witnessed the whole incident. So customer complains to manager and demands to know what he’s going to do about it. I feel like bars tend to have more leeway in terms of telling terrible customers to fuck off compared to most other service jobs, and I love that for them.
I booted a guy out of a liquor store for making a racial comment, told the owner about it the next day. That same guy called about ten minutes later to complain on me, owner says "Well I'm sorry that this happened, but I tell you what: I'll be here until six tonight, come on down and I'll personally tell you to never come back." No it isn't. If you're in service industry anywhere there's always people who see you as their personal servant who needs to do what they want. And some act like when you're exchanging money for service you need to get the money's worth (no matter how little that might be) and they want to be treated like royalty. With the rest it is of course a business interaction but enough of those royalties exist - of every social class at every business with service industry workers
I worked at a McDonald's for years and maybe had one customer a year who was like this. And I don't see it when I'm out shopping or at restaurants or anything. It doesn't seem normal.
You should ask the staff, including the janitorial staff and delivery guys. There are many demands and some even make intentional trouble to show that "you're lazy and not doing your job properly". Not saying that that's majority, but they exist everywhere.
An American thing, since wait staff are generally an exception to minimum wage laws, so without tips they literally do not get pain enough to live on. It's toxic as fuck.
