Yes, just like all tortoises are turtles but they still have distinct behaviors and habitats. All chimps are apes taxonomically speaking but they have very different behaviors.
All apes have very different behaviours to each other, it's not like chimps are special in that regard. You don't even seem to be certain what it is you're trying to double down on.
This isn't a chimp, I think it's a type of macaque but it's hard to tell. Lots of different primates smile and it means different things depending on the species, also he could have just learned it as a way to make humans give him treats
That would be my guess too. He mimics human smiles and gets more treats in turn, which is always a great behavioral reinforcement. He's an unusually chubby Tibetan macaque btw. They generally look more massive than other macaques due to their fluffy fur, but this one is clearly overweight.
