The point is you can't rationalize with or appeal to the sense of empathy of Nazis or fascists.
Jews have learned that they can't sit ildy by watching injustices and genocides happen, because sooner or later everyone's number comes up in the drive for "purity" and it is a lesson we all need to understand quickly as well.
And agree with the comic author, Nazis need to be killed. They are intolerant of every deviance from their idealized norm, so there no kinder way to deal with them

For sure, but they're the minority and much less culpable, what with them having actual mental disorders. And even then, having that sort of thing since birth is even more rare. This what I mean by there being a point that you can usually find that could have improved things but it's too late

As someone who used to study this, personality disorders seem to be genetically influenced, but often need to be triggered by emotional distress, and get worse over time without treatment, and better with treatment and a support network. It’s not like a light switch, it’s not all or nothing.

Yep, it’s like having the gene for a certain type of cancer. Having the gene doesn’t mean you immediately have cancer upon birth. An environmental stimuli may activate that gene at some point, but it also may not. Depends. We all have an insane number of dormant genes.
The nature of NPD means that treatment isn’t sought out as often, but it does happen. Same with other personality disorders, but they tend enter treatment more often than ppl w/npd. It really is interesting stuff.

The series spent its runtime being yanked back and forth between family drama and interstellar evil empire. So when it came to the big finale and they actually had to merge the two you ended up with the interstellar evil empire fixed by trite family drama methods.
It wasn’t well received, from either direction. Turned out domestic abuse metaphors aren’t taken well when the solution is ‘Hey! Stop it! You are being mean!’ And, well, it works even less when it’s insane super Nazis.

Yeah, stories do this pretty often. I threw a moment like this in my D&D game and they did NOT forgive the big bad, they trapped in him stone forever. While, honestly, good on them, he killed several people and ruined lives.

Creator made it for kids - she did not want to do the “kill evil bad guys and everything is okay” trope. Also - I think there was an underlying theme of teaching tolerance to the previously intolerant. This was in line with the lgbtq characters
