-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
after making the first post ( https://imgur.com/gallery/hPvwQUV ) I have decided to make a second one because every day it gets worse and not only for the citizens of hong kong. There's a cold war game going on right now and us, normal world citizens are in the middle as always. What can we do? For part, the people will always have some kind of power since in democracy AND economy, you need the people or things won't get moving, right? By boycotting, we are not just letting know the CCP that we won't accept their bullshit anymore but we are also telling our goverments and the companies that benefit from Chinese dumping (when china sells things ridiculously cheap to achive monopoly...and then they rise the prices) that we won't buy from them unless they get their shit right.
This post is a continuation from the old one which already cites enough to stop supporting china in my opinion but if that isn't enough, please watch the following youtube video:
inhttps://youtu.be/17oCQakzIl8 - about what exactly is happening with the uighurs, like cited in the old post and https://youtu.be/OubM8bD9kck about our friend XI "winnie the POO" Jinping who we all hate right now.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
having watched these videos, let's cite even more reasons why you should boycott china:
-china's claims over the whole fucking southern china sea (which, btw, go as far as almost touching other countries lands) and of course ground territory disputes with countries that don't even touch borders with china (including north korea!) - at some point it get's even worrisome in case you forgot that some soldiers died in a clash between india and china (BOTH ARE NUCLEAR NATIONS) and there's a race for building military buildings inside the disputed territory disregarding what the people inside kashmere even think about this.
-kidnapping (even outside of china and hong kong) of people they want to silence. For more information: https://foreignpolicy.com/2018/03/29/the-disappeared-china-renditions-kidnapping/
note: this move was already being applied by north korea. search kidnapping in japan by north korea in the internet.
-the lasted law that as we all know, can target anyone who speaks for democracy in hong kong (and that includes me that i'm not remotely related to china in anyway). They asked for an american citizen to be brought to china...they can ask anyone at this point. It now depends on your country of residence if they don't recognize this law or not (remember how germany during wwII asked (forced) some european countries to deport to them what they considered "human trash"? welp, there's already a concentration camp for the uighurs so...)
-threating other countries like GB and australia with "dare consequences" because of their support for democracy in hong kong.
-continuing racism against foreigners inside china, specially those from Africa to a point that a McDonald's in Guangzhou had to issue and apology for banning black people from one of it's stores. said story is now closed. This because of a false belief that the coronavirus was being spread by african people.
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-52274326
note: we all know that the CPP fed the chinese people false stories of how covid came to life and it's not their fault.
-reported hacking by china to US companies working on the covid vaccine (such as Moderna)
-NBA China's training camp's own staff complains of "abuse" against students:
https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/29553829/espn-investigation-finds-coaches-nba-china-academies-complained-player-abuse-lack-schooling
-as many as 250 fishing vessels, supported by armed forces (don't know if they are just people with guns not related to the CCP) go as far as ecuador (galapagos island to be precise. A paradise for nature) to fish everything it can:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/the_americas/260-chinese-boats-fish-near-galapagos-ecuador-on-alert/2020/07/30/01b0d98e-d29f-11ea-826b-cc394d824e35_story.html
this isn't the first time they come to latinamerica to fish what they shouldn't. They've been fishing sharks in brazil and in 2016 they entered Argentina's waters and threaten to sink the coast guards boat but they instead sank the one with weapons. China of course got upset and didn't recognized the fact that they weren't in international waters: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-35815444
*they do this because of lack of fish in the asian ocean?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
these are less serious reasons why to boycott china compared to the one's in the last post (john oliver outdid my current list in many ways, specially the part about products made by uighur forced labor factories) but nevertheless these are enough reasons for boycotting china.
NOW, HOW TO FURTHER BOYCOTT CHINA?
some people asked me how to avoid buying from china in amazon if they lie about the origin of the product you are buying...It may fail for some products but here are my suggestions:
-don't buy from never heard companies: sometimes when you search for simple products like a cactus themed pouch and you find yourself the same very pouch but with different logo or name on it-that's definitely chinese. Also, check if the images: if they look like horrible photoshops, it's probably chinese. If the product description below is detailed and has guarantees (example: https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B07HH9JHZX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 - note the #nobullshit tag with the german like) then you can rest assured you aren't buying crap
-google the name of the company before buying...check if it's chinese.
-don't believe that if it's suggested from amazon, then it's not chinese or it's a big brand. I was looking for an mp3 player (yes, I am old and I need space in my phone) and all I've found it's plastic crap from china even though they are sold as high lined products and cost like 30 euro in comparison to an 450 euro ipod touch. I decided to stay with Sony and spend for a 170 euro player even if it's old and it costs but I know that most of Sony's components are japan assembled (this is why you know that PS5 won't come cheap, eh?)
-it might happen to you that you buy from something that it's shipped from italy but it's chinese, like a guy from my old post wrote...CHECK THE NAME OF THE SELLER and the address...this might help to see it it's chinese.
-ALWAYS CHOOSE PRIME, you don't have many guarantees with amazon marketplace...unless you trust 100% the buyer (i've bought american cereals from england before and a nanoha figurine from japan).
-product doesn't have the brand on the title of the product...it's chinese.
THESE SUGGESTIONS WORK ALSO FOR EBAY AND ETSY though it's harder with them and please, please please STOP BUYING FROM WISH AND ALIBABA. STOP FUNDING THEM. Remember: all companies that are located in mainland china have to follow and respect the CPP rules and if they want to collect your data by order of the party, they will do so. Saying this, I say; it's a good thing TikTok may be banned from america (and nothing of value was lost - sorry but I preffered vines, at least some where funny. You can regain your "famous on the internet" status with other apps).
I would also like to point the thing that everybody has been saying since last year...almost all electronics and cars have made in china parts so it's imposible to avoid china BUT if you don't buy directly from Chinese companies, you will still make an impact in their economy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I made this little guide so you know what you are buying and whether consider an alternative (sony, sandisk and asus for electronics, there are many other games that are not from riot and tiktok is cancer but anyways...) it's only a little of what I can do to guide you for a better consumer knowledge and experience...like a saying in latinamerica says: what's cheap comes expensive later (lo barato sale caro).
cat tax. I gotta go. I just hope this helps at least a little. Remember to read the old post here: https://imgur.com/gallery/hPvwQUV which in my opinion as I said before already cites enough reasons to stop giving china money and other more effective ways on boycotting china.
disclamer: this ins't only about america (and we all know trump is a clown, no need reminders) but this is about the whole world. Please leave behind any conspiracy or sided politics left or right 'couse it doesn't matter anymore. This is about human lives inside china and outside, about our lives and our future.
EDIT: imgur wont let me update the logo image I posted but dirt devil got bought by a hong kong company so technically it's still safe. Instead, I forgot to put up there Volvo and Motorola (which was bought by lenovo).
thank you for supporting the cause! (and let's all get along...but don't play that "why can't we be friends" song just now).

Don't trust China, China is asshoe

If you click on the webpage for #1, in the diagram for the differences in language, uses the phrase "fuck your mom" for traditional chinese

Just a reminder, but Tencent owns (or part owns) a LOT of developers, such as Epic and Grind Gear Games.

History shows that things start changing only when blood starts flowing. Because humans are like that.
ItaloColombianAdventuresInJapan
I kind of wanted a bloodless revolution...that didn't took us over the WWIII route of this timeline...
Alfadorfox
Replaced my razor recently, had no idea where it was made, pessimistically expected China. Joy when I read "Made in Indonesia".

Great post. Not sure what got you all hardcore about this, but it was worth it. I'm the same way with immigration related politics.
ItaloColombianAdventuresInJapan
I admit it was covid and the fear of a "new world order". Looking now at how the world is now; I don't want to live like this. No one does.
dudeinsha
Hell no.
ArkhamHood
This is exactly the kind of shit I've noticed from Amazon. I've had to look up every company before buying.
ItaloColombianAdventuresInJapan
I know. I wish they had some kind of quality department or someone to check on these things. Be careful also with some Amazon brands.
ArkhamHood
I heard India was thinking of pushing Amazon into displaying country-of-origin for listed products. Hope it goes somewhere.
ItaloColombianAdventuresInJapan
That's good news. I hope they do put pressure on Amazon
LenneSamunai
vipkid logo is kinda disturbing me, also its name
BungusAmungus
I thought Lenovo was American made?
ItaloColombianAdventuresInJapan
was....IBM sold it's laptop division to lenovo...therefore, the famous think pad is also chinese now
BungusAmungus
US gov need to prevent shit like this from happening. I don't understand why self sufficiency isn't a higher priority for this country..
ItaloColombianAdventuresInJapan
Well, as WWII demonstrated in Italy, it doesn't totally work. What it can be done is to NOT SELL EVERYTHING (in Colombia, have sold 1/2
ItaloColombianAdventuresInJapan
Many of our important companies but at least, not to the Chinese. It's still sad though. The US has to rethink how it does business outside
kitewithoutastring
I also agree in boycotting anything made in China or from Chinese companies. Have to do more research but thats ok.
NobodyExpectsTheSpanishInquistion
Boycott America for the Iraq War, Afghan War, Yemen War, Libyan bombing, Syrian bombing, Pakistani bombing, torture in Guantanamo Bay,

Only buying Taiwanese and Japanese tea from now on, thought about making educational posts about it
ItaloColombianAdventuresInJapan
do it!!! i'd love to see this! plus, I have no knowledge about Taiwan's tea so it would be nice to read it!
Green223
Bet they're regretting that AMC purchase right about now.

I put back some fish today that said product of China. Every move counts

I like how China pens Grindr. Hahhaah

It’s been resold to an American firm, but HIV status and message data made available in the meantime is fair game to them. Source:

No wonder Lindsay Graham looks so nervous these days...
Lugh314159
_I_ love how the US government called the original acquisition a threat to national security. Not to citizen's privacy… NATIONAL SECURITY.
notsohasty
Some military members and gov employees use these apps. That can help explain the national security part
GnomeDeGuerre
Privacy can't be defended anymore, too many investments have been made.
GreyKnightTemplar666
Probably because to many GOP members have multiple accounts on it.
circlebreaker
Anyone who's not out and hold a position of even middling power can be blackmailed. Serious shit, so far as patent protection/security goes.
FractalChainsaw
Direct messaging on Grindr might be the best way for the average constituent to get in contact with Senator Graham these days.

How did you land here four months later?

I'm currently using a xiao-mi smartphone gifted by my parents some years ago.Which steps should I take to limit data harvesting? 1/2
Afelium
Straight out getting rid of it would seem harsh and ungrateful, what do you think I should do?
ItaloColombianAdventuresInJapan
it was a gift...no harm on this plus it was from your parents. The moves have to come from you directly, so don't worry. about your data 1/2
ItaloColombianAdventuresInJapan
I unfortunately have no knowledge how safe are Chinese made mobile phones. I better research more on this topic. for the moment, don't worry

Thank you for your reply

I work for a Chinese company that has one unoccupied finance office in HK just so they can claim to be "HK based and not Chinese"

That explains so much about Lenovo.

oh cmon, tencent has full ownership of riot games, and they made valorant and league of legends
Holedemort
And pubg
afnoot42
Boycott USA too while you're at it
LurkerOfDarkness
Well that won't make the list much longer since they outsourced everything.
Green223
Unfortunately I live there and like to eat food.
Noob3rts
(1) It is worth noting that Worlds 2020 for League of Legends is 'still' going to happen and it 'is' going to happen in China. That said,
ItaloColombianAdventuresInJapan
You made me forget to mention that Bandai plans to build a huge Gundam Freedom (the irony) at Beijing. I'm upset. Also, tencent has 1/2
ItaloColombianAdventuresInJapan
Invested in anime directly in Japan...this I don't like one bit.
ItaloColombianAdventuresInJapan
Sorry for tencent ruining the fun. I hope you can get comfort in other companies that are true to their gaming dream.
Noob3rts
(2) Riot Games is not a Chinese company unless something has shifted in recent years. They are OWNED by a Chinese company, and I guess that
SalmySwims
Riot Games is under the "Companies that have been bought by China (Chinese companies)" list
Noob3rts
(3) could make them Chinese by association, but Tencent bought them to allow them to help them grow into what they have become. They gave
Noob3rts
(4) pretty much free control to Riot Games people to do as they please (for the most part), but when it comes to political shit, zero chance
Noob3rts
(5) as seen by them heading to fucking China in the state of pandemic and current situation within China itself. Riot Games WAS a great
Noob3rts
(6) company, but that is just it, it 'was' at one point and now it is a piece of shit.
Bladedrummer
Noooooo, Pirelli! =(
ItaloColombianAdventuresInJapan
I know...I was surprised too. At least Inter and Milan aren't Chinese anymore.
Fredfinks
get michelin tyres now
AmHumanNotLizardMan
Wait... all these years I've been thinking it was Firelli :<

Hahaha, their logo kinda looks like it but it's definitely Pirelli.

If we can't ship manufacturing back to the U.S., we need to at least get it to Taiwan.
NobodyExpectsTheSpanishInquistion
Taiwan has a population of 22 million. You can't replace China's 1.3 billion with that few people. Besides, the Taiwanese don't seem to
NobodyExpectsTheSpanishInquistion
have much interest in gaining China's manufacturing anyway.

I upvote you, from a desktop made from Chinese parts, sitting in a chair made from Chinese parts, using internet made from Chinese parts...
Bystandr
Its going to be painful> we have to decide to pay more for our finished goods and demand that quid pro quo exist with our trading partners.
Bystandr
We should import and export (doesnt have to be exact but should be close value wise) evenly and take action to prevent inequities with wage.
Bystandr
When we pay more, we need to increase our min wages - in part so our citizens can afford to buy what is made - so we can start building a
Bystandr
healthier society. That, or it's going to be anarchy and guillotines, soon, and a slide backwards for all of us (that seems to be occurring
Bystandr
right now, too).
MomofukuJones
The more we do this actively and persistently, the more of our supply chain will be China-independent and the easier it will get.
parrotPositivityDog
It is ok, as long as the *majority* of PROFIT is not going to China. It is hard but it can be done.
DoDucHuy
yeah, like 99% of electronics are made in or made by Chinese affiliated firms. No way around that really.
TheSpeakerOfTheHouse
Actually there is, many electronics are made in Korea, Vietnam, Taiwan, Brazil and other places, by other firms. You have a choice.
Brotastrophe
It's very easy to say this when you don't actually know the manufacturing for each individual product.
DoDucHuy
With parts or firms based in China. I build computers for a living, I knows this.
AeonQuasars
I have been actively trying, but when its about electronics. It's almost impossible. Just buying wireless earplugs. I went for Sennheiser 1/
AeonQuasars
Because there were multiple evidence it's made in Ireland or mid/eastern Europe. First thing I see when open the package. Made in China. 2/2
BannedbyastupidMod
......GOOD NEWS EVERYBODY! Many Companies are moving production out of China!
bobziIIa
Bad news is it’s China doing outsourcing just like everywhere else did.
idkalan
Yeah and into Taiwan or Vietnam, where they also buy and use chinese parts. So it's like fucking your 2nd cousin, not your 1st /s

So..... less reprehensible but same stigma?
TheOneWhoWasLeft
Point is, it stays in the family no matter what.
ItaloColombianAdventuresInJapan
But at least our food isn't Chinese...right?
RondomGuy
If i remember right, there are a few brands of chips and dried fruit that are made in china. Wouldnt be surprised if there were more
LurkerOfDarkness
I had American food, made from local ingredients today, so no.
pizzaparty
80% of the world's garlic is from China.

funnily, italian tomatoe souce often is made in ITALY, from CHINESE tomatoes. because they cnanot even grow the demand in italy anymore.
ItaloColombianAdventuresInJapan
But ironically, most kiwis come from Italy... Anyways, Italy had to put it's shot together also...

#4 you forgot Blizzard/Activision, Apple, NBA and the WHO
Green223
Kowtowing to China isn't the same as being owned by them but it's bad behavior worth considering.
ItaloColombianAdventuresInJapan
I've talked about WHO in the first post but maybe I should had added that the UN in whole had not said a thing about what Is happening 1/2
ItaloColombianAdventuresInJapan
Inside China or even request an inspection on both unghirs and coronavirus situations.
LurkerOfDarkness
Because China has veto power, so it's pointless.
ItaloColombianAdventuresInJapan
I know...it makes me sad. When did we let other dictatorships enter the UN security council? It's not just China unfortunately...
LurkerOfDarkness
At the formation of the UN, the USSR Was a founding member, along with the ROC which in reality was also a dictatorship at the time.
