Sober for almost 17 days now, longest stretch since I first got to college. I'm 27, and feel like I'm taking back my life.

Started drinking in college because that's when I would make my friends. Shortly after, those reasons to celebrate with my peers turned into the weekend norm... Then the week night norm. A hard day? - relax with a drink. That's what I told myself. But my body needed the alcohol, so I started finding more reasons to turn my days hard because at the end I could reward myself with a beer.

Getting therapy helped me realize hard days are more of a choice. I've kicked the vice cold turkey... Stepping outside myself to look in has it's benefits too.

I've lost 10 pounds already and I'm getting back the version of me before every day seemed hard.

Good for you! it's everywhere in our society. Gas stations, grocery stores, every restaurant and takeout. You'll find anxiety goes down too.

I agree! We glorify it way too much.

You sound like you are absolutely ready to take this step. Sleep can be tough at the beginning but you can get through it.
