Ok, so I've been a professional PowerPoint designer in the corporate consulting space for more than TWENTY FIVE years, and while I would never stoop to using Smart Art, I'm CONSTANTLY having to take a set of bullets or a list of words and turning them into a bunch of individual boxes for some layout or another. This is a total game changer for me, I never knew you could do this. What a quick way to instantly convert a list into a set of boxes. THANK YOU
This working may depend on how the PDF came to be. If it's an image in the PDF (such as from some scanners) it would require some OCR for tables. I know these exist as programming libraries, I've built projects that automate this using Tabula/Camelot. There's probably something with a friendly GUI that does the same.
LibreOffice has been struggling to keep up with all the whizbang stuff MS keeps doing. Open source projects don't lack manpower, but they sometimes lack brainpower, IE: someone that can think of how to implement more high-level stuff. A lot of the low-hanging fruit problems have been solved, so now the high-hanging problems stick around as folks scratch their heads. But, overall, LibreOffice is still a great alternative.
If you ever have a position that has to give info to a team or present/compile a report to higher-ups it will still come in handy. Assuming it doesn't become fully obsolete before then. Lol
Idk what it's like in the workforce but as a teacher, I'm being (gently) mocked by younger colleagues for still using Powerpoint when everyone's on Genially or Canva these days
i know, personally, one person who uses canva. and they are the most vile, toxic, sack of corporate waste, i have ever met. and while i’m sure this in no way actually reflects on canva. the very fact someone like that would preferentially use it, has tainted it in my eyes
There's a few things, but the biggest is getting the client Canva design from the Canva art board to something that is actually printable. Most people that use it just design without taking substrate specs into account. Many times we receive artwork that should be a postcard, but they have sized it like a poster, so then we have to coach them through how to resize. It's frustrating for the client, because they are typically not a graphic designer.
Oh so the exact same issues we had at a photo print shop where people would send in wildly low resolution pictures and ask to be printed on 5x7 or 11x14 and (this was back in the day) I would try to old school upscale the image with varying degrees of success. Nowadays AI upscaling isn't half bad, so that's nice. I guess 🤷🏼♀️

How do you do the initial list breakdown? Every time I highlight lines and hit tab it just deleted those lines.

Use indent on the ribbon instead of tab on the keyboard. Or place the cursor before the first word (don’t highlight all the words) and then press tab.

Tabbing each line individually breaks it into an outline but converting to smartart puts all lines in a single smart art block
